I was up in Maine visiting friends (actually shipmates, a very rare thing for me when I was sailing) and drove past while criss crossing the state; went back on race night. In '84 if I recall.

My bucket list is short these days. I've been about everywhere I wanted to go to. I'll have to go back thru and count the tracks that have closed since I went there. Some closed before I got the chance to go there....Ascot...Danbury... Islip...Little Springfield.....etc[/QUOTE]
I still have some that I would really like to see. My bucket list includes Thunder Road, Oswego, Bowman-Gray Stadium, Sun Praire, etc, etc.

Andrew if my memory hasn't failed me I think it was 2007 when I was at Oxford Plains, Bob Bahre I think was gone by then. He sure left his mark on N. H. racing.
No matter how many race tracks we travel to, there is no place like our home track, for you it was Oxford Plains, for me Oswego Speedway and then Manzy. I have always felt the bar was set high by that home track especially when it came to the Oswego Safety Crew. Thanks for starting this thread, slowly some of the tracks I have forgotten are coming back. Patti

After spending the last 20+ years criss-crossing the country chasing sprint car and midget races, I can honestly say…”Yes, yes I am.” I was "livin' the dream" for quite a while, though. Oh, to be single again.
And after this last trip to the Pacific NW, I doubt I’ll be seen anywhere until at least Sprint Week...2013 As for the places I would have loved to have seen before they closed Reading and Ascot top the list. My dad and I planned a trip to Reading for a USAC/RSCA double-header the last year it was opened ('78) but for some reason the plan fell through. Ascot was just too far away for me to even think about going to when it was around. |

A fun post indeed, Mr. Quinn. I've actually visited more tracks than I would have thought, and while my list is shorter than most on here can claim, still I've been privileged to see mostly exciting racing wherever I've been. I've added 4 tracks to the list already this year, and hope to add a couple more by the end of the season.
1. Manzanita Speedway - Phoenix, AZ 2. Canyon Speedway - Peoria, AZ 3. USA Speedway - Tucson, AZ 4. Phoenix International Raceway - Phoenix, AZ 5. Perris Auto Speedway - Perris, CA 6. Cowtown Speedway - Kennedale, TX 7. Devil's Bowl Speedway - Mesquite, TX 8. Expo Raceway - Tulsa, OK 9. Tulsa Speedway - Tulsa, OK 10. Creek County Speedway - Sapulpa, OK 11. State Fair Speedway - Oklahoma City, OK 12. Wild West Speedway - Clinton, OK 13. 81 Speedway - Wichita, KS 14. Hutchinson Raceway Park - Hutchinson, KS 15. Dodge City Raceway Park - Dodge City, KS 16. Great American Dirt Track - Jetmore, KS 17. Thunderhill Raceway - Mayetta, KS 18. Solomon Valley Raceway - Beloit, KS 19. Salina Speedway - Salina, KS 20. Belleville Highbanks - Belleville, KS 21. Lakeside Speedway - Kansas City, KS 22. Wakeeney Speedway - Wakeeney, KS 23. Kansas Speedway - Kansas City, KS 24. Eagle Raceway - Eagle, NE 25. Junction Motor Speedway - McCool Junction, NE 26. Tri-City Speedway - Granite City, IL 27. Lincoln Park Speedway - Putnamville, IN 28. Tri-State Speedway - Haubstadt, IN 29. Bloomington Speedway - Bloomington, IN 30. Kamp Motor Speedway - Boswell, IN 31. Terre Haute Action Track - Terre Haute, IN 32. Indiana State Fairgrounds - Indianapolis, IN 33. Anderson Speedway - Anderson, IN 34. Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Indianapolis, IN 35. Indianapolis Speedrome - Indianapolis, IN 36. Angell Park Speedway - Sun Prairie, WI 37. Knoxville Raceway - Knoxville, IA Seeing others' lists reminded me of a couple I missed: East Bay; and Kemper Arena
