Received our's 500 tickets in the mail today, as well. This year will be our 34th 500.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

Wow. Thats 27,500 miles, not counting qualifying
So you starting going at the end of front engine Offy era & beginning of rear engine stuff? Wow. Feel like talking (Typing) about it? That could be really interesting

Sometines I"m Rons co_piiot and its a blast listening to him talk about the different 500s. I ask questions like Who finished 4rd in 1963 and more often than not he tells me without even thinking about it, Till I met Ron the 500 was just another race to me (I"m more into dirt) but now I really enjoy the race, Ron thanks for being a good friend, hope to see you at a race soon buddy.

The blue envelope has arrived. My first 500 was in 1949. I have missed 3 races since then. 1955 and 1956 while in the army and 1980 when our son, Andrew, graduated from high school. Poor planning by the school board.

Unfortunately I won't be able to go this year. So I will have a couple of primo seats for sale at face value. I will also throw in a parking pass at Speedway United Methodist Church. If anyone knows of someone that would like to go, these seats are some of the best around. PM me
Thanks

Well guys this will be my 33rd indy 500. Nothing like 33 years and 33 cars making a lot of life time memories. Simply the best racing events in the world. Have fun and enjoy all the great things that we all love. I still have a tear drop out of the eye with the pre racing ceremonies and the fly over. What a great Kodak moment it is. Thanks.

1965 was my first 500, and it was a very memorable year. Only six of the 33 starters were front engines. Gordon Johncock finished fifth in an Offy roadster while Eddie Johnson brought another Offy roadster home tenth. Jim Hurtubise and Bobby Unser had front engine Novis. Herk went out on the first lap with transmission problems.
It wasn't an epic event, but it was interesting because of the variety of cars and drivers. Jim Clark led 190 laps and finished ahead of Parnelli Jones and and Mario Andretti.
I will share some more on this race later.
