The Montpelier Motor Speedway begins a trio of open wheel weekends which kicks off with the Montpelier Midget Series returning to the east central Indiana facility this Saturday, September 3rd while the BOSS Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series makes their annual appearance at Montpelier on Saturday, September 10th , followed by the final 2016 Montpelier Midget event on Saturday, September 17th featuring a co-sanctioned race with the USAC Indiana Regional Midget Series. The September 3rd racing program will also be a part of the Montpelier Jamboree celebration featuring a downtown street fair with food and fair rides along with a nice parade at 12:30. The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series is presented by the Leaders Edge of Indianapolis, Indiana. The August 20th Midget event saw Iowa native, Davey Ray, in victory lane. Ray bested a strong top 10 Shane Hollingsworth, Colton Cottle, Ray Seach, Logan Arnold, Tyler Nelson, Justin Dickerson, Kyle O’Gara, Scott Orr, and Todd Willis. Logan Arnold is the current points leader of the Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget series. The Montpelier’s Midget Series which features full size Midgets and unlimited power plants and allows a platform for other engines including Focus, Ecotech, and Motorcycle powered entries to compete utilizing an unlimited weight break and additional tire width. The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series features an open tire brand and compound rule. The event will also pay USAC MWT points to members. The Montpelier Motor Speedway, which began racing in 1903 and hosted its first automobile race in 1915, is one of America’s oldest remaining racing facilities. While the east central Indiana ¼ mile clay oval has a historic past, the facility has seen many major modern upgrades the past four seasons including new restrooms and bleachers along with the addition of many safety features such as a new catch fence system along with a new front stretch wall, lighting system, transponder scoring, and corner runoff areas. The Montpelier Motor Speedway commonly competes weekly on Saturday Nights with its popular Modified and Stock Car divisions and is also the host to the popular Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget series. The Montpelier Motor Speedway serves as a host for USAC National Sprint Cars, USAC Indiana Midget Week, MSCS Sprint Cars, NRA Sprint Invaders, and BOSS Sprint Cars.
