I've only been taking photos there for about six years, but this thread made me go back and check out some of the old photos. Pretty cool seeing who was driving what cars back in 2004 and the late model show from 2003. In 2004, I've got one of Bryan Clauson's first sprint car wins I think. Brian's 1995 title at LPS was historically important because it impacted another driver - and ultimately changed racing history. Anybody remember how?

Pat... the person you are referring to is Tony Stewart. The short version of the story is... Kent Christian qualified Brian's sprint car and put it in the show at Putnamville... Brian was driving a silver crown car at Indiana State Fairgrounds... Stewart crashed Glen Niebel's car and Brian gave up his ride to Stewart because the silver crown race was running late and he needed to get back to putnamville to win the championship.

Stewart later went on to win the Silver Crown championship by 2 pts.... and with that he won the USAC triple crown

That's right Bill - Brian and Brad Marvel (Kent may have been in the mix as well) were locked in battle for the title (this again shows how big this was) Brian gave up the seat in Steve Stapp's Silver Crown car and Stewart was just tremendous (remember he was the 1994 midget champ - but it wasn't like he was a household name). I happened to be sitting by Pancho Carter and he was amazed by Tony's run forward as well - these points proved to be very critical because of the narrow margin Tony won the Silver Crown title (and hence, the Triple Crown) by after the remarkable and stunning turn of events that happened at the finale at Sacramento. Funny story - I flew to Sacramento with Dick Jordan - he had invented this board game which we played - I can't adequately describe it but the winner of the game was "Tony Stewart". I stuck that piece of paper in my pocket and afterwards I found it - so I placed it in the race program where it rests to this day.

Brian just walked in.. he told me he was driving Dave Lafevre's silver crown car and that the motor blew up while Stewart was driving it... That race earned him enough points that we was able to go on and win the championship by a couple points.
