Finished tenth last night and not sure I think 15th with Hight Limit Tuesday.
He was allowed his T shirt trailer at High Limit.

Justin Grant wasn't at Tri-City last night but will be at Haubstadt tonight.

The defending usac champ is Justin grant, not bacon.

And it was the first time that the second place driver had ever ran without a wing.

They both stuck it where it was almost impossible. Dickie was running about ten feet off the wall and they put it between him and the wall, Dickie said to me, I wish someone was waving me to go higher. But that's where the car was working best. If I hadn't giv'em the room, They possibly would have never got by me.

He still had a grin as big as ever a half hour after the race. A hundred K for third!

Stevie and Steve Sr. Were the talk of the pits. Went over to their pit for a while and just listened. steve ran it wing style and then lowered the rear a bit. Both Him and Jac were on Goodyears. Anyway, Stevie said we usually run good here and I drove it the same, straight as possible. .

How is this one off related to this thread?

Actually Jac ran a lot without a wing. Wasn't like it was first time. Saw him win in the Vance car at Eldora with USAC. Had a picture of him that day on the cover of Open Wheel magazine. In the article he was said he enjoyed non wing more. Remember him years later running the 3 day national open at Terre Haute. Told me he would love to have a ride for Salem the next day.

My guess is cost. Racers will race anything if you let them. Chase Stocken put a wing on a few years ago and got denied because the lower frame rails of his car did not meet current wing car tech. Other reasons there is no longer such thing as slapping a wing on
is setup and motor. Wing motor power band is not the same as a normal sprint car. Me
personally, I wouldn’t want the brutal wear and tear of a wing race on my equipment.
