The winged guys in PA make almost 3x as much for a regular weekly win as IN wingless guys

Those PA guys are also spending 3X the money to be competitive!

What I was trying to say is, You better have absolute top equipment and be one hell of a driver to ever reach the return on investment status winged. I don't see many without 15 years experience and a great horse under them running top tens.

Drivers, racing someone else's car. perhaps yes, splitting 3000 is more than 12-1500

Only equating the purse structure in to what form of racing is most beneficial for a team's ROI is short sighted. The teams / drivers that are successful in making this a viable way of making a living understand this. Not saying one is better then the other from that standpoint but more goes into the equation then just what it pays to win or start an event. I am willing to guess that a team that is successful generate far more income from sponsor / branding opportunities then they could ever hope to generate from purse structure. That is unless you ask Donny Shatz

There is no question that great Sponsors make it feasible to field a top notch car with or without a wing! Purses have continued to rise in Winged racing, but have went stagnant in Non-Wing racing! That is why more and more drivers are putting a Wing on that are trying to make a living at Sprint Car racing! Dave Darland is one of the few of the last 10 years who has made his living driving Non-Wing Sprints with a few Champ Car and Midget shows mixed in! Even Dave, has to have a part time job in the Winter. If Williams Grove pays $3,000 plus to Win for a weekly show and $300 plus to start. What can we do to help our Non-Wing Purses go up? Bring a friend to the races with you! Winged racing draws bigger weekly crowds in those areas.

I'm curious how the ticket/pit pass prices in Pa compare to those in Indiana and how the fans in Indiana would react to a sudden increase in tickets to help raise to purse?

Roger, just looked on the Williams Grove Website. Opening night/ Regular Winged 410 Show is; $15 for Adults 21 years of age and older! $10 for Youths 13-20. 12 & Under are Free!!! So They are letting more people in for less, maybe that's why their crowds are bigger and sell more concessions and merchandise. JMO.

You're seeing people go Winged racing due to the marketing aspect of it. Purse structure, eh, has some to do with it, but not as much as you'd think.

A birdie told me a few weeks ago that they've gotten more exposure running a limited winged schedule than they ever did running non-wing.

It's easier to find sponsors, especially national ones because winged sprint cars are everywhere. Non wing is a niche (that I love!) but it's only in Indiana, and California. I know Texas and the midwest have some non wing series, but not the 410 variety.
