Actually the purse is higher than it was 30 years ago. Last I knew it was $5000 to win, 500 to start. There are more $10,000 to win shows than I ever remember. There are 2 in 5 days in May. I realize it's not King's Royal or Knoxville Nationals money, but it's not what it paid 30 years ago.

This doesn't even cover inflation at 2.5% per year. No wonder every driver the last two nights has been saying they are happy they are running for more money and have more races. I think Bacon said something about putting food on the table last night. Pretty clear they think they are underpaid.

Think you missunderstood his statement as he was happy to have a couple more races in FL to run in only a couple extra days. If you got only three races scheduled in FL. One gets rained out and you do bad one night, You don't make the cost of the trip. let alone car cost, He took the Wedgewood car to run the Extreme races and the Hoffman Car to run the USAC. Thanks to Mr. Gile for letting him fill in. Proved they had a good car too.

So I know a lot of people on this board have their preferences and opinions but Indiana does have a wing sprint car series with the Schaeffer's Oil Indiana Racesaver Sprints. Yes we are racing with 305 engines. But did you know we still turn faster lap times than the non wing 410's? We also race at all the tracks you would want, Terre Haute, Kokomo, Gas City, Circle City, Haubstadt, Florence, Moler, Bloomington, LPS, Paragon (TBA). Additionally, we are all local drivers either racing to make a name or racing to have fun at a much more affordable price than a 360 or 410. Average car counts have been stable around 20 cars for three years now. Give us a chance, maybe you'll find something you like. Check out the schedule on our Facebook or website.

PS. If USAC wants to get involved with promotion have them call me, I'm sure we can work out a deal. 🙂

I may have misunderstood, but I don't think I missed the overarching premise of his statements that were he was happy to race for more money or he wouldn't have shown up, regardless of what car, right? $5K for second.... that's a USAC win. $2K for 5th that equals a runner up in USAC. I'm not down there and the group I'm associated with said money has been the talk of the week.

I would ask you this....if you feel like you are adequately paid in your job do mention how much you are paid?
Does Donny Schatz or Brad Sweet ever say anything about money in an interview?

All I am saying is it's additional $$ to be made. While nice I don't see how any of these races (For now) pay anywhere close to say the USAC Nationals at Husets. I think USAC has a room for improvement that doesn't hurt their bottom line much . I think every sprint week race could probably pay a third more thru the pack and the promoters would still do well by it. (I say this because it's typically about a thousand more attend than a reg usac show.) Of course some tracks are only doing well on USAC and other specials and breaking even or less on the regular shows.

I see nothing but good from XOS. Could see a three night deal at say THAT of MSCS night one, XOS night two and USAC night three, Switch it up every year on the headline series. Everyone gets their series in the spotlight more fans attending, bigger purses. Or say a East meets west battle USAC and BoSS vs XOS and WAR.

I
Just speculating where it could go, The cost of running these cars only keeps compounding.
