We live just over a 1/2 hour drive from La Salle Speedway. Given that this area of Illinois is hard core dirt late model territory and the proximity of La Salle Speedway to Fairbury (just over an hour apart) it would appear that sustained profitability would be in question. As has been stated previously a "specials only" schedule may be the only way to make a buck or two and even then that may not be a successful formula.

Personally, we like the La Salle track itself better than Fairbury but that obviously isn't the sentiments of the majority of race fans in this area. Fairbury is the 800 lb. gorilla in the room. Open wheel events have been scheduled over the years with no substantial sustainable success, which brings us back to the realization that this is DLM country, pure and simple, and Fairbury is the undisputed king of that situation.

Everyone would love to see Stewart, or someone like him, take possession and make it go, but on the surface that looks like a long shot.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.
