IMS went to the trouble of hiring one of the best dirt tack preppers in the country to build a track and scheduled a Chili-Bowl-like event (with the bonus of Unlimited Fresh Air!). Using that as the yardstick, a 4-day CB ticket works out to over 56 bucks a night, plus travel, plus lodging, plus meals. 3 of those nights you only see a portion of the field. Here, you see everybody both nights. I can't get to the info right now but they're paying out a minimum of $100.00 to like 78th in the alphabet Mains; what exactly is the issue?

Yes, if what I read is true, and we all know the other half to that, it's over my SS paygrade too, would I like to be there, I think so, but I'll not complain about it if I can't go, I don't have to look far to find something else that needs done, so I entertain myself on projects long over due, and sleep well.

The truth of the matter is the Chili Bowl is a tried & true, time tested world class event. This IMS midget deal is not the Chili Bowl and most likely has no chance of ever being in a class with the CB so any comparison are moot and illegitimate.

It is no surprise that the folks at IMS have priced this event at gouging levels. That is what can be universally expected from IMS.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

I will be geeked sitting there looking at the turn 3 stands of the speedway while watching a huge field of midgets race for 2 days. Then on to gas city friday. $25 is a deal for all the prelims on wednesday

I went to IMS today. Wednesday $25 all general admission no reserved. Thursday $45 + $3 service fee for tickets 7 rows from the top. She did say the prices would go up when the event gets closer.

my source says ticket price goes up Aug 1.

$75 covers both nights camping in the north lot.

btw. source is a local college kid that is interning @ IMS this summer.

The $75 is the same thing the lady told me at the ticket office. You must be out by Friday at noon

OK, I was wrong; they're paying to 18th in the E Main. Fifteen Grand to win the "A", One Grand just to make the feature. That's 94 deep. Ninety-four. The "B" and "C" payouts compare favorably to normal A Main purses. Given the payout and the potential for a pretty decent show I don't think there's any gouging involved.
Yes, the CB is "tried & true, time tested world class event". No event ever is that in its' first year, CB included. But hey, that's moot and illegitimate thinking...

I got mine. For what they are paying, and the overhead is very high, I didn't think it was too bad. Charles you have already said you weren't going, so what does it matter? Do you still think they will only get 32 cars? I will set the over/under at 49 all day, unless you really didn't believe what you said. I knew you would post something negative about this event, because you have every post about it.
