Looking for some info: I will be flying from upstate NY (Albany to Cinncinnatti) to Indiana for USAC sprint week. We will be going to Gas City Friday July 8th, Kokomo the 9th and Lawrenceburg the 10th. Looking for things to do during day, places to eat or anything we should check out. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

One thing's for sure, while you're in the Kokomo-Gas City area you have to eat at least one meal at The Half Moon Brewery in Kokomo. Even if they didn't sponsor Josh Spencer's sprinter, that would be one of the best places to eat and/or get a beer, around. I would probably not even know about the place had it not been for Jerry Spencer, though.

Just up the road from Gas City is Auburn. I recommend a visit to the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg museum.

Casino right across street from LBurg Speedway. Also have a lunch and dinner Buffett.
Kokomo, a few miles up 31 north of Kokomo is Grissom AFB there is a small but neat air force museum. Its sprint week so Your going to want to be at the tracks semi early for good seats. Especially at Gas City. Kokomo no later than 5. Burg all the seats are good but they fill up fast after 5pm.

If you like basketball, New Castle has an Indiana HS hoops museum, not sure if its worth a side trip, but as a break from my yearly Denver to East Coast I-70 pilgrimage, it was excellent! |

Indy museum is a must. Take the track tour also.

Just a thought. I would get a room in Kokomo for Gas City, and Kokomo. It will save you from checking out and then waiting for your next room to check in.

Plenty of public golf courses in the area, including a par 3 course in Kokomo last I knew, conveniently located next to a fantastic /food ice cream place called Cone Palace; Couple bowling houses in the area as well. There's an indoor paintball arena called Kokomo Kombat but based on their hours of operation, I pray there's no reason to visit them... or you go literally as they open their doors @3pm!!
If karting is your thing, the Indy metro area has a K1 in Fishers (I-69), Fastimes in Carmel (IN431&465), and Sarah Fisher just opened her karting center in the town of Speedway. It offers both road course and oval. If your a wine guy, AJ Foyt has a wine shop in Speedway.
