The Grissom Air museum is located about 12 miles north of Kokomo, just off U.S. 31. If you are interested in World War II or Cold War era aircraft, this would be a worthwhile, inexpensive visit.

We went last year to some Sprint Week races, got rained out on first night which is a bummer.

Anyways, I'd recommend getting to one of the tracks really early and going in the pits. Find the track that has stands in the pits, or allows you to go sit in the stands for the races.

You could visit some of the Indy Car Series race shops around Indy.

The IMS museum.

The Dallara shop.

Was going to mention Grissom AFB north of Kokomo Museum. That and Half Moon Saloon, also in Kokomo.

Lawrenceburg also has a casino across the street.

Frolics (Racers and Fans Party's) after the races every night, Just look for the large crowd. You'll meet anyone and everyone at some point.

Best place to get in the pits before the racing starts is gas city by far... They charge you a dollar you get a 50/50 ticket for it and have to exit the pits before they get started.

For pit grandstands, I recommend Gas City. The main grandstand seats are not the most comfortable (to be very polite) and they tend to be packed during Sprint Week. Not that much difference in cost for more comfortable seating and you are close to all the action in the pits.
