heard a rumor that the oval at ORP will be demolished for expansion and suites for the drag strip. Dont know if its true or not. It would be too bad if it is. The NASCAR part of the Kroger speedfest would move to IMS. Open wheelers would be SOL

Don't think so - I talked to the folks about improvements to the drag strip and the word was they are not forthcoming anytime soon

Thats good to hear, i heard it from someone that works for IMS. maybe its wishful thinking to get more action over there.

This "rumor" circulated for about a day when O'Reilly purchased the naming rights 3 years ago.
The NHRA would like to expand use of the facility by scheduling additional events ,
not eliminating ones they already have.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway thinks more of itself than to schedule anyone's " under card " series ,
including NASCAR's Nationwide and Camping World Truck series. IMS knows that in doing so , IMS becomes just another speedway.
The Golden Girls wouldn't even ponder that move !

< Only World Class Events for IMS , plus the Brickyard 400

I think when you consider that the Hulman-George family owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ,
the Indianapolis "500" Mile Race and the Indy Racing League , no further explanation is needed.

The showcasing of the Firestone Indy Lights Series at the speedway is an attempt to further the development of the Indy Car Series in general which remains "Priority Number 1 ! ".
