Some people call me Richard... but I still haven't figured out why.

Grew up in Ohio (the buckeye state), always enjoyed watching Dave Blaney wheel the old Vivarin car.

I was either named after a hook nosed comedian or an old Irish ballad. And my dad's name was James Lee Burton. I held onto the last two names.

First non wing race I attended was the old NCRA vs USAC races in Oklahoma City back in the 80's. Saw big time names both in USAC and NCRA racing the big 1/2 mile. Got some autographs that would make some go wow. I was hooked since then. To me the only type of car is a non wing car. Being in a wing state it makes me an outcast. Although, we are working on that.
Being born and raised in Okc and a fifth generation Oklahoman, My family did stay. I am a proud Okie and I will have all my cars or helments show that. |
