why does racing start so early in Indiana/ when I was a kid growing up in n. e. oh. our local asphalt track started at 8:30/ while the Indiana dirt tracks (which should start later, to save on the track conditions) all seem to start around 7?

Indiana tracks don't want you out past your bed time.

Back then there were fewer classes per night.
The state used to be behind ohio on time which helped dirt tracks.
Many tracks now have curfews.
