Are you allowed to park in the infield during the Silver Crown race at DuQuoin?

Thanks

No. There is an oval shaped lake in the infield and only about 1/3 of the infield is accessible. That area lies on the north end (turns 3 & 4) of the racetrack oval and the race teams are pitted in that area. No parking is available in that area other than haulers and tow vehicles.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

Thank you for the reply. Looking forward to my first trip to the mile, and to be able to enjoy the fair and Jamey Johnson concert the night before.

I love the mile. I always thought that grandstand would be great for a concert. Have fun.

If you've never been to a concert at Du Quoin you're gonna' love it. The stage is located on the outside of the track, unlike Springfield where the stage is in the infield. The grandstand seats are significantly closer to the stage than Springfield.

We've seen numerous concerts at the Du Quoin Grandstand and it's as good of an outdoor venue as you'll find.

Du Quoin is a special place. It's a very pretty racing venue. It's too bad the State of Illinois is broke and there is no money to keep the 2 state fairgrounds as visually nice as they could be but they're still special. If you can, get a pit pass and go walk over to turn #3 and watch those gorgeous Silver Crown cars scream down the backstretch and drive into turn #3 at around 150 MPH. It's a breathtaking sight.

We'll be at both races. It's great that Sarge runs them both at night. Since they installed lights many years ago there is a decent chance that the track will retain moisture and the Silver Crown cars will get a cushion going and run out by the outside wall. If you've never seen Crown cars run the cushion way out by the wall you on a 1 mile dirt track you could be in for a treat!!
