I know most of us IOW fans are traditional sprint car fans. I like both, winged and traditional. So .please no sarcastic responses. Can anyone out there tell me why what is arguably the biggest Sprint Car race in the World is 50 laps with a fuel stop. The word Sprint Car means just that. Why was 30 or 40 laps all of those years at the Nationals great, but then a few years ago someone actually said I think this race should be 50 laps with a fuel stop.Someone in ultimate authority decreed this. I would like to know who it was.It is truly mind boggling to think a decision like this was made. I cannot see any defense for this decision from anyone.Anyone with even a theory please post it on here.No reasons about tanks not being big enough. They were ok up until 2 years ago or until this recent decision was taken.Maybe the biggest reason I do not go to Knoxville anymore. Someone help me out. Winged fans, traditional fans anyone please.BCFOREVER.
That's been a debat since the 50th. I know a lot fans wants to go back to 30. If ran 40, would only take 2 yellows to force a fuel stop. So IMO go back to 30 & no red fuel stop.
It's been 50 and should stay 50! Some of the best racing out there this year and the past has been wing races especially at Knoxville! Every wing show I have seen this year has had passing all over the track...
I know there is a safety aspect, but I'd like to see them run a bigger fuel tank so that they can atleast make 50 laps if it went green to checker. Then you can make a regular yellow a fuel stop and eliminate the feel of it really being two 25 lap races.
