The DuPont Gold Crown Midget Nationals event will be one of the top paying events on the O’Reilly POWRi & USAC National Midget calendar and one of the highest paying events in Midget racing. The inaugural event will host three days of competition. Practice on Wednesday, Oct. 8 will be a prelude to three nights of racing, each ending with an A-Main feature.

Preliminary nights will be Thursday, Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 10 with a 30 lap feature each night; while the 40 lap main event will be Saturday, Oct. 11. Saturday’s race will pay $15,000 to the winner, while every starter will be guaranteed $1,000.

POWRi & USAC showcase the nation’s best Midget drivers and the Gold Crown Midget Nationals is one of those events to attest to that. As one of the biggest dirt Midget races of the season and one of the last of 2008, we expect to see the best drivers come out not only from the Midwest, but from around the country.

“Tri-City is the perfect venue for an event like this”, said Kenny Brown of POWRi. “The track has been a staunch supporter of POWRi since our first season and we believe all of our competitors will enjoy the chance to compete at this historic track.” Tri-City Speedway has also hosted many USAC National Midget and Sprint Car events over the years.

Tri-City Speedway was for many seasons a half-mile track encompassing a quarter-mile venue in its infield, but the track was recently converted into a 3/8-mile track by promoters Kevin and Tammy Gundaker. Kevin and Tammy have promoted the track since 2005. In the past, this facility has hosted such events as the Bob Wente Classic.

All information for the Gold Crown Midget National event; such as the entry form, hotel accommodations, etc. can be found under the DOWNLOADS link located at the top of POWRi web site.

General admission tickets are now on sale for Thursday and Friday at $20 and Saturday at $25. Visit www.tricityspeedway.net for all ticket information.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, there will an open practice from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm for all classes. Pit passes will be $15, general admission is free, and concession stands will be open.

For more information, please contact Kevin & Tammy Gundaker at Tri-City Speedway (800-617-9077) or Kenny Brown (314-267-4944).

I emailed them several weeks ago about support divisions and they told me there were none. Thank God!
