The Race Against Childhood Cancer Night, Modifieds, Super Stocks and TQ’s Close Bloomington Season on September 29

Bloomington, Indiana – The final event of Bloomington Speedway’s racing season will feature the UMP Modifieds and Davis Automotive Super Stocks with UMRA TQ midgets on September 29 as the historic oval hosts an important Race Against Childhood Cancer Night.

These three groups bring exciting racing action when competing on the ¼-mile oval. The most recent modified event was claimed by Danny Schwartz, with Jeff Deckard and Bradley Sterrett in the top three. Fans will remember a lot of close racing action among early leader Will Krup, Jacoby Hines and Tait Davenport, with Schwartz taking the lead on a mid-race restart. Josh Divine and Steve Hollars battled closely for the first four laps of the super stock feature, before Divine took command. Jason Hehman had a strong race, but wasn’t able to catch Divine, who claimed his second Bloomington victory of the season. Jason Setser continued his strong season with a win when the UMRA TQ’s last visited to Bloomington, in August.

The program format will be the same as throughout the 2017 season. The modifieds will pay $700 to win and $100 to start, and the super stocks $600 to win and $90 to start.

The Race Against Childhood Cancer Night is a memorial for Peyton Hazeltine Whittington, who died in June 2013 from an inoperable brain tumor. The planned activities will include raffle items, a 50/50 raffle and special merchandise supporting the organization. All charitable donations and proceeds from the special activities will benefit childhood cancer research through The Cure Starts Now Foundation in association with the Peyton’s Angels Indiana Chapter. More information is available through Indiana.thecurestartsnow.org.

Ticket prices for the closing night are just $15 for General Admission and kids 12 and under are admitted free with an adult general admission. Pit passes are $30. The General Admission gate opens at 5:30, pit gate at 4:30, hot laps start at 6:30 and racing at 7:30.
