For Immediate release:



An offseason merger between two great midwestern racing families, Amati racing & well known owner Shane Wade of Marion Il. and Shane Cockrum Motorsports of Benton Il. will produce 3 entries for the 2014 Lucas Oil Chili bowl Nationals presented by General Tire held at the Quicktrip Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma January 14-18 2014. Wade, Grandson of National Sprint Car Hall of Famer “One Arm Bandit” Chuck Amati and Cockrum, Son of Midwestern Ace Cliff Cockrum will base their operations out of Amati Racings Marion Il. Shop. Longtime fans of the tri- state racing scene will remember the duels that these two families have had throughout their careers and it only makes sense to see the two team up for the legions of fans they amassed.

Leading the charge will be 2013 Powri National Midget event winner Shane Cockrum in the Marion Underground Construction, Quick Racing, Ace Hardware, Greg Hall FTS Inc., Simpson, Goodridge Lines, Infinity Shocks ***/Fontana #66. Cockrum comes off a highlight season which saw a Powri National event win at Jacksonville Il., a 4th at the Inaugural Jason Leffler Memorial midget event as well as 3 top 5 finishes in 4 events in USAC Traxxis Silver Crown competition at Springfield, Duquoin, and Eldora Speedway.

In addition, excitement is in the air over the acquisition of two young drivers with a great deal of success to the stable.

Kaley Engstrom of Rhome, Texas former Outlaw Kart National Champion and micro sprint standout comes off a stellar rookie campaign at the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals where she advanced to the E main besting over half of the 260 plus entries. Kaley is a former graduate of the “Women in the Winner’s Circle” academy who knows her way around the dirt tracks and is always a threat to win. Engstrom will pilot an Amati Racing Twister/Fontana # T4 with help from Marion Underground Constuction Tanglewood Oil field Services, Truxton Productions and Starman Engineering.

James Reed of O’Fallon, Missouri will try for Chili Bowl Success in the Amati racing/ Marion Underground Construction ***/Esslinger. Reed, a rookie to the open wheel ranks, is a product of UMP open wheel modifieds in the midwest. Reed will bring his exceptional talent to the Quicktrip center to vie for a spot in the coveted “A Main”, a cumulation of a full weeks racing against 270 plus entrants from multiple countries.
