Despite a cold, windy, snow covered weekend, the competitors from the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series gathered Saturday night at the Christopher Conference Center in Chillicothe, Ohio to celebrate a successful 2013 campaign. Gibsonburg, Ohio driver Tony Beaber took home the lion's share of the awards and accepted the crown from defending series champion Dustin Smith of Russiaville, Indiana.

The BOSS series completed 12 of the originally scheduled 14 events with 11 different feature winners. In all, 142 different drivers competed in the 12 events that saw an average of nearly 32 cars per night. The season ended with the highest car count of the year for any sprint car show in Ohio at Eldora Speedway's October event when 54 traditional wingless sprint cars signed in for competition.

During the festivities, the plans for the 2014 season were announced. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series proudly announced a partnership in marketing with Buckeye Machine of Forest, Ohio who has come on board as the title sponsor. The series will now be known as The Buckeye Machine "Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series". With this agreement, the top 10 points payout will nearly double from previous years with a guaranteed $10,000 cash, plus additional prizes spread among the top 10 in points. Drivers finishing 11th through 15th in points will now be honored at the season ending awards banquet with cash and trophies, bringing the total cash and prizes to more than $15,000.

Teams and drivers will not have to wait until next years banquet to notice the difference in the series as $550 has been added to the standard purse. The standard show now pays $1,500 to win and $250 to start with increased pay from the 3rd through 15th finishing positions over last season. All drivers who participate in a BOSS event but fail to make the main event are still guaranteed $100 minimum pay. Heat race money will now change to pay the top 4 finishers in each heat race and the $50 bonus awards will all be returning including the "Hard Charger", "Steel Block", and "Hard Luck" Awards.

Yet another important announcement was the new program implemented to keep teams funded along the tour. The Buckeye Machine BOSS sprints will now pay a guaranteed minimum tow bonus to all teams in the top 15 of the points standings. The first 3 races of 2014 will use the top 10 teams of 2012 and 2013 as eligible drivers for the program. Beginning with race #4, the current points standings will be the guideline going into the start of each event. On this program, eligible teams and drivers are guaranteed $300 minimum to start any BOSS main event and $150 minimum tow money at any BOSS race.

In other news, the series will continue to use the pill draw system to line up heat races with a redraw system for the main events. Once again, in the true "Outlaw" spirit, the series will remain with an open tire rule. Hoosier Tire Midwest and Lias Tire American Racer have both renewed contracts to supply bonus awards to teams sporting all four of their tires in the main events. And finally, fans will notice some changes in the program, most obvious of which will be when the Buckeye Machine BOSS mascot makes his first appearance. "Bucky" The BOSS Beaver has been welcomed aboard the tour and is sure to delight fans of all ages.

Additional sponsors will be announced in the coming weeks as many have come on board to sponsor heat races and bonus awards. Marketing packages are available starting as low as $100 to work with the fastest growing sprint car series in the country. We are always willing to work with sponsors and 100% of sponsor dollars go directly to the drivers!
