There have been many tributes paid to the Hoosier icon that we lost yesterday, but none of them mentioned her role in the pre-race ceremonies at the Indianapolis 500. The Evansville Courier did have an article on the front page and a picture of her on the red carpet at this years Indy 500, where she served as Grand Marshall. She sang in the pre-race ceremonies a total of twenty-three times. Our local TV stations haven't mentioned this at all, but they mentioned her as being the Grand Marshall at the Owensboro, KY Christmas parade last year. It seems twenty-three pre-race appearances would be worthy of a mention. She was very popular with the fans and her passing will leave a void in the ceremonies.
