Kokomo Klassic was the right name for tonight's race! Early leader Justin Grant was looking strong in the 4 Topp car with Kevin Thomas Jr. in hot pursuit in the 19 car. Grant on the top and Thomas working through the middle of the track. While Scotty Weir and T-Mez were waging their own battle behind the two leaders.
At one point it looked like it was going to be a 5 way battle at the front.
It was easy to see that KTJ was beginning to reel Grant in by turning off the turn 4 corner and by lap 12 or 13 he was able to blast by Grant at the flag stand to take the lead. Then a flag came out and grouped them back up.
But on the restart with 16 to go Grant dogged Thomas down the front stretch and within a couple laps he caught KTJ and passed him meanwhile T-Mez and Weir were on the move as well and passed Thomas a few laps later before another flag came out. On this restart it was clear to see T-Mez was on a mission running cushion while Grant worked the top in 1and 2 then the low groove in 3 and 4. As they began working traffic T-Mez was pouring it on and managed to catch Grant with 2 to go but Justin worked traffic to perfection and as they both came off turn 4 Grant under T-Mez by a fraction and was able to hold on for the win by half a car length.
What a race!! Klassic Kokomo for sure and
Thanks to everyone who makes that happen. ( by the way not sure who filled out the rest of top 5 cause I couldn't take my eyes off the front 2 cars)
