Largest D-II midget purse in the WORLD...
This format will be just like the Gator "DIRT" Nationals race as we lock in top 5 finishers, hard charger, top 4 in total heat and feature passing points. 12 will come from the 2 B Mains and 2 that did not make the show will come from a hat draw of everyone else that did not make it. Be sure to go to http://www.ssmidgets.com/ for the exact rules. This is the 2nd Time Big Redd has thrown the D-II midgets a bone and if this race is a success will will do it again in Nov. for the North/South Mason Dixon Challenge and $10,000.00 to win the Division II Gator"DIRT"Nationals...we can not do this without you the racers support..Please support this "BIG-TIME paying event...

As of June 1 2018, the Lucas Oil Southern States D-2 Midgets Series will allow the stock "built" engines like BADGER/POWRi ( rules: www.powri.com/downloads/get.aspx?i=428805 pg. 17) along with the older "NATIONAL" type single overhead cam, push rod engines (Gearte, Fontana, Esslinger, Mopar) to race the remaining of the year on a trial bases for the rest of 2018. This type of configuration must weight 1200 lbs. after race with driver and run a SP-3 Hoosier or SD-48 American Racer. We feel this will allow the heavier drivers and older cars that compete to become more competitive and ones that are thinking they might be too heavy for a midget can now be competitive so we will close the gap with the added horsepower. The other reason for this is I have been looking at a LOT of classified adds to replace my chassis and was over whelmed with how many of these older national engines are out there for a reasonable cost...most cheaper than a new "BUILT" stock block. ONLY 30lbs of ballast may be added . If need the SSMS will and can add up to 12lbs of pressure to RR after race at the scale

This rule is STRICTLY for the Lucas Oil Southern States Midgets Series and I do not expect the other D-2 series to follow suit. I would hope they take a look at it and see if this will help with their car counts also. I have been weighting on this for a while and for us I think it is the best possible way for our car counts to growth and keep the older midget engines alive.
