There were two Silver Crown points races, plus a non-points special event, held at Springfield in 1982.
Larry Dickson won a 100-mile Silver Crown race on May 2, 1982.
Bobby Olivero won the Tony Bettenhausen 100 on August 14, 1982.
The May 2 race was part of "The Dream Event of '82" weekend. There was also a special 12-car, 12-lap Silver Crown race the day before, on May 1, which pitted a 6-driver USAC team vs. a 6-driver World of Outlaws team.
The USAC team defeated the WoO team by placing its six drivers in the first eight finishing positions in the 12-car match race. Jack Hewitt won the event.
