MAY 8TH – LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY – RACING IN ALL CLASSES

Lawrenceburg, IN – On Saturday night May 8th racing at the Lawrenceburg Speedway will feature all classes – Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints, KOI Auto Parts UMP Modifieds, Impact Sports Pure Stocks, and Bessler’s U Pull & Save Hornets.

The pit gate will open at 4:00 pm and the front gate at 5:00 pm. Practice is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm with opening ceremonies at 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $16, children (7-12) are $7, while those 6 and under are free. Pit passes are $30 for all ages.

The weekly format for the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints has been changed and will now feature group qualifying at each event.

A blind pill draw will still be used to set the heat race groups, but lap times gathered during practice will set the heat race lineups. Cars will be lined straight up by time with the fastest four cars in each heat race inverted.

Heat race finish will still determine the lineups for the B Main(s) and feature with the top two finishers in each heat race (if five or more heats only the winners) redrawing for their starting position at the front of the feature field.

The sprint car draw closes at 5:30 pm and any car that misses the draw will be placed on the tail of a heat race.

The standard sprint car purse is $1,500 to win/$225 to start with $100 tow money paid to all sprint cars that do not start the feature. There is also a $63 Hard Charger Award for the sprint driver that advances the most positions from the originally posted feature starting lineup. The complete purse breakdown can be found on the track’s website HERE.

Defending Lawrenceburg Speedway Champion Nick Bilbee is the current point leader after an opening night win for the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprints on April 17th and a runner-up finish to Max Adams in Saturday’s King of the Midwest Sprints race.

Bilbee has been on a tear as of late at the Burg, with nine straight top-ten finishes. In the last seventeen races (dating back to May 11, 2019) Bilbee has scored thirteen top-five finishes and has seven feature wins.

Bilbee has ten feature wins over his career at the Lawrenceburg Speedway and is one of only four drivers to score double-digit sprint feature wins on the 3/8ths mile track. 2013 champion CJ Leary and Justin Grant lead all sprint drivers with a dozen wins each, while Brady Short has eleven.

2018 Lawrenceburg Speedway Champion Garrett Abrams sits second in points tied with Korbyn Hayslett. Both Abrams and Hayslett have started the 2021 season with a third and fourth place feature finish. Abrams has a string of eight top-ten finishes while Hayslett has top-four finishes in the last four races.

2020 Lawrenceburg Speedway Rookie of the Year Saban Bibent and three-time track champion Joss Moffatt round out the top five in points. Bibent was the Hard Charger last weekend, moving up ten spots to finish fifth, his best career finish at the Burg. Moffatt is Mr. Consistency, with fourteen straight top-ten finishes spanning nearly two years.
