BOSS Heads to Historic Fremont Speedway Saturday

With the 2014 season for the Buckeye Machine BOSS traditional sprints headed toward its climax, only Fremont Speedway and Eldora Speedway are left to determine the season champion. This Saturday, October 4th will see the stars and cars of the regional tour attacking the historic "Track That Action Built", the Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio. Fans can expect quite a show for Flag City Recycling Night / Family Fun Night at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds oval. In addition to BOSS, there will be 3 classes of "Run Whatcha Brung" with some exotic creations.

In typical BOSS/Fremont form, a field of nearly 40 cars is expected with drivers from many states expected to enter. Drivers from as far away as Wisconsin and North Carolina have indicated they plan to be in attendance Saturday night. However, all eyes will be focused on the championship battle. Russiaville, Indiana driver Dustin Smith holds a slim ten point lead over Wapakoneta, Ohio driver Mike Miller. Smith was the first champion of the series in 2012 and hopes to be the first two time champion. Both he and Miller have one BOSS feature win this season.

Also in the championship battle is a pair of young guns who are quickly making their mark in the series. Michael Fischesser of Cincinnati, Ohio sits 66 points from the lead based on a very consistent season and he is still in search of his first tour victory. The only other driver still in contention for the championship is Evans City, Pennsylvania driver Brandon Spithaler who sits 4th in the standings, 76 markers from the lead. Spithaler and Logan Hupp of Columbus, Indiana are the only 2 repeat winners of 2014 on the tour.

The rest of the BOSS tour regulars will also be fighting for spots in the top 15 for year end awards including Derek Hastings, Chuck Wilson, Aaron Middaugh, Chad Wilson, Adam Miller, Bob McMillin, Joe Butera, Joe Liguori, Andy Fike, Steve Little, and Aaron Middaugh. Fans can expect a large invasion of outsiders trying to steal the BOSS cash including North Carolina third generation driver Jarrett Andretti and Plymouth, Wisconsin driver Justin Miller who is a Midwest Sprint Car Association regular and will be making his first ever non wing start. Without a doubt, may of the local 410 and 305 teams will be ready to defend their home turf as well.

Pit gates will open at 4:00 pm Saturday with the drivers meeting set for 5:30. Sprint cars will begin putting heat in the motor immediately after the drivers meeting. Hot laps will begin at 6:00 pm. Pit passes will be $30 and there is never an "entry fee" or membership with the true outlaws of BOSS. As always, there is no tire rule and no weight rule under the BOSS sanction. Transponder rental will be available from Fremont Speedway for just $5. Mufflers are required, but any muffler or insert may be used. Teams will be paid in checks by BOSS after the main event. Payout for this event is as follows: 1500, 800, 700, 600, 500, 450, 400, 375, 350, 325, 300, 290, 280, 270, 260, 250 on back for all A-Main starters. As always, heat race and bonus award money will also be up for grabs and $100 is guaranteed to all teams who sign in and make an attempt to compete in the event.

For fans, the front gates will open at 4 pm with general admission set at $14 while kids 11-16 years of age are just $8 and seniors are $12. Kids 10 and under are free! "Buffy", the Buffalo Wild Wings mascot will be on hand along with "Bucky" the BOSS Beaver. Kids will be able to participate in a penny toss for awards. Hot dogs will be just $1.00 and popcorn just 50 cents.

The Buckeye Machine BOSS sprints will finish off another strong season next Saturday, October 11th with what promises to once again be the largest single gathering of sprint cars in the buckeye state. Last year 119 sprint cars crammed into the pit area at Eldora Speedway for the "Sprintacular" featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions 410 winged sprints, the NRA 360 winged sprints and the traditional non wing Buckeye Machine BOSS sprints. This is a "must see" sprint car event on THE most famous dirt track in the world!
