The reference to an $8500 W-9 was a wild assed guess what a used one is worth... not the upgrade cost to change it over. Maybe in PowerI they are still viable, not so much in USAC National and...

This seems to have wandered off topic... and Don Moors hasnt yet pointed it out yet. The key here is rules.... and interpretation & enforcement.
Nobody in the national midgets sees a need for a DOHC...

What is the goal here guys? Affordible engines or national engines? They are not the same and they dont do too well together once you get to a bigger track. Why keep trying to race them together????...

I am not an engine guy, just a crew chief & racer who runs an esslinger XT.
It seems that to me the issue of RPMs, with respect to an Esslinger is more about where you are in the RPM/power band...

I think the issue is philosophical not technical. Youre rght on limiting air as its a pretty simple task... maybe 1" is too small but how about 2"? I bet esslinger could tell you eactly how to...
