Re: PR at race tracks

Glad to see someone up there is using the race news. I'm out of your area in Kentucky, but the local newspapers are very good about printing the stuff I send out. If I ever get back up there, I'll...

Anybody remember an open wheel mechanic (Indy, champ car, sprint car probably) named Harold McCullough? Reportedly worked with Foyt at one time. A friend who is a family member is wondering what...

Re: MustSeeRacing's Biobased #8 and #88 Heading So

One of the things I remember about my 15 years at IRP was that in the SC events there were always races going on all over the track.:) There is also a story in this month's Speed Sport Magazine with...

Re: Silver crown - who's driving what?

Good story in this month's Speed Sport magazine, quoting the SC director on what they want to do. Hope it works out. I remember in my 15 years at IRP that in the SC races, there were always races...

Re: USAC Sprints - Dayton - 10/15/67

Not sure, but you could be right. The records I have just show Parnelli winning three in a row that year.

I recall in the 90s, when Mike Bliss had won two in a row, I told Glen Niebel that he...

Re: USAC Sprints - Dayton - 10/15/67

If I'm not mistaken, Parnelli and that Fike car won all three sprint car races that year after the track was paved. Foyt won the first one on the dirt. Yeah, I was there, too.

Re: USAC Sprints - Dayton - 10/15/67

I was there. 29 years old at the time. Drove over from Salem because Earl had hired the girl I was dating to sing the National Anthem. Flagged a few races there for Earl and John Marcum. Average age...

Re: Kevin O'Neal

Glad to hear Kevin isn't ill or anything. In addition to being a good announcer, he's a good friend.

Re: Bloomington Speedway GM

Wonder do he need a fat old cripple for a PR man who works pretty cheap?

Re: Irp 1998 ?

I don't know if they still exist, but while at IRP I kept a file of photos from each race, every year. Probably in storage somewhere.

In my years at what was then Indianapolis Raceway...

In my years at what was then Indianapolis Raceway Park, I was always impressed with the dedication and the performance of the 6R racing operation. This is a sad day for racing. Best of luck.

Re: RIP Larry Miller

Really sad news. Prayers and thoughts from here. One of my best memories is your dad driving Karl's big-block at the old 25th St. Fairgrounds in Columbus one night.

Boyd Smedley and I had taken...

Re: Sonny ates

Very, very sad. I also had the pleasure of watching Sonny in the UMRA TQs. It was Paula Wathen Gross, daughter of the late Ray Gross, who informed me of his passing last night. Ray was the owner...

Re: Eldora 500 - 8/5/67

Off Topic a little, but I remember flagging a 500 lap ARCA race there. Les Snow won it. The track just got blacker as the night went on.

Re: New Midwest TQ Racing Series Forming

I didn't know where to post this, but since this is a discussion of TQs, I'll do it here. Judy Ates just informed me that Ray Gross passed away at about 5:00 p.m. today (Tuesday). He was Sonny's...
