Stapp car I bought out of Brownstown in 1985 had a Homemade modified general motors power steering unit, with a looooonnngg pitman arm. Internally,the gear was "scary",so it went on the "pile"...

I have one of those units in a box,somewhere.I think it has a GM spool valve inside of it. It came with my old Stapp sprinter. Was gonna use it back then,(I started in 1986)but was advised against it...

Why not save $$$$,and drill out your grade8's. We did it and it took about 2 hours to do all the large suspension bolts. Cost was a drill bit.
