Re: USAC announces Jason Smith as new president

I find it interesting that while winged racing is in the midst of POSSIBLE power struggle, crowds for the WoO shows have set at least 3 attendance records at tracks. Volusia, Kennedale and 81...

Re: Paragon\ Weather

The Paragon Facebook page shows that it is rescheduled to March 29 due to damage at the facility by today’s storms AND excessive rainfall.

PSA for USAC Terre Haute/ Red Hill

This is a PSA for any of you considering going to the Terre Haute/Red Hill USAC Midwest opener weekend April 5/6. If you need a motel room, you had better make it SOON. Thanks to the solar eclipse...

Re: ASCS: World Racing Group Acquires American Sprint Car Se

Looks to me like WRG just bought a feeder system to the WoO. The regional ASCS series feed the ASCS 360 National Series, which then becomes a stepping stone to the WoO. Seems like a very smart move...

Re: Must Watch

We just returned from Florida. We watched the 4 nights of WoO at Volusia, the 2 nights of USAC at Volusia and the 2 nights of USAC at BRP/Ocala. The truth of the matter is the poorest attended night...

Re: Usac: Got the gig! Hulbert named full-time usac national

I think USAC has made a great choice. Bryan seems knowledgable, and genuinely seems to care about the sport and the fans.

Re: Questions For The Experts

Ocala (and for that matter, Volusia too) has dirt that is more sandy than a typical Midwestern track. IMO, Ocala/BRP has a much smaller "window" where it is tacky and not dry or slimy. It also seems...

Re: Announcers so far

Based on the two nights at Volusia, I thought Bryan (Brian? Not sure which it is) Hulbert for USAC did a fine job. Smooth, informative, knowledgeable, and seems to know when to comment and when not...

Re: Opinions on USAC From Late Model Fans

We attended Volusia both nights. The USAC Sprint Cars were well received by the stock car people. I overheard quite a few comments about how much fun they were to watch.

Volusia TracK attendance record

While many tracks struggle with attendance, even on special shows, Volusia Speedway Park set an all time attendance record last night for the DIRT/UMP/ WoO Gator Nationals finale. Walk up General...

Re: Kudos to WoO & DIRT/UMP

That main stretch crash on the restart in the WoO feature was NASTY, but thankfully wasn’t as bad as it could have been. When you need two wreckers working together to lift a car off of two others...

Kudos to WoO & DIRT/UMP

I know, I know….WoO is wings, so nobody cares, but compliments to the WoO and DIRT/UMP officials, racers and crews at Volusia last night. They started about 5:40 PM with hot laps and the final...

Re: 2024 Silver Crown DuQuoin

While that may be a part of the decision, DuQuoin had a concert on the track in 2023 that night of the race. Being able to schedule two events the same day on the facility allows them to make more...

Re: Could USAC do it?

I can remember in the 70’s showing up at Terre Haute and yes, Eldora at 11:00 AM for noon hot laps, and the feature getting the checkers at 7:00 PM. In today’s world, any show that lasts longer than...

Re: Creating a Schedule

As a sanctioning organization USAC goes where the promoters want them. In those instances where USAC promotes a show, they are going to go where they have the opportunity to make the most money.

Re: Srx

Yes it was gimmicky, BUT it introduced some people to short track racing and dirt track racing, which is never a bad thing. It brought people out to short tracks that otherwise had or would have...

I’m about 25 miles from Paducah International Speedway, which reopened a couple years ago, and they are finally having a sprint car race in 2024 and 110 miles from Tri-State Speedway, which is what I...

The photo of Mark Alderson in the Steve Enlow car is almost certainly from Iliana. Hewitt in the Hampshire car MIGHT be from Milwaukee, but I’m not sure.

Re: Is Non Wing Racing Dying?

While it is my opinion that Non-Wing racing isn’t dying, I am concerned about its overall health and for that matter all of open wheel racing, esp. at the weekly level. Outside of the Chili Bowl and...

Re: IndyCar's Future

So…only two races/year? Only two MILE DIRT tracks still operating for car racing are the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield,IL, and the DuQuoin Mile in DuQuoin, IL.
