I often wonder how many people would have handled...

I often wonder how many people would have handled going to sprint car races in the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. The norm back then was 20-25 cars entered and USAC only started 14 cars in the feature ....

I’ve seen this photo before and I think it is Dick Atkins at the Sacramento mile in October of 1966, his 1st Dirt champ car win. Sadly 3 weeks later he perished at Ascot along with Don Branson.

They have run the Flat track bikes there the last few years but not on the schedule this year. Hay bales and the inflated safety walls are much less expensive than guard rails and permanent walls.
