Re: Kyle Larson - Will we ever see him at Indy for the 500?

About the same time it became a dirt race only open to "flag waving, dirt slinging, God fearing, American men layin' it all out on da' line."

Re: Kyle Larson - Will we ever see him at Indy for the 500?

Correct, but let's not forget that there have also been delayed Daytona races in that post '95 era that outdrew the 500. It's a work in progress and a very complex thing and not as simple of a fix,...

Re: Kyle Larson - Will we ever see him at Indy for the 500?

Funny thing is this 500 full of drivers that some of you on here claim that no one knows because they didn't spend the early years of their racing education slinging dirt at Eldora, Terre Haute,...

Re: Kyle Larson - Will we ever see him at Indy for the 500?

I'm not saying to be a smart A, so don't take it that way, but I always see this on here. Where did they come from, who are they? If we had more local guys more people would watch. There is whole...

Re: Kyle Larson - Will we ever see him at Indy for the 500?

Apparently you missed the part where I said that Larson would have no issue finding a ride with a top team.

What the top teams want is someone with experience in rear engine formula cars...

Re: Kyle Larson - Will we ever see him at Indy for the 500?

That would be close to getting him a full season with a top team. https://www.autosport.com/nascar/news/roger-penske-nascar-should-cut-costs-for-2021-rules-package-5281966/5281966/

Re: 500

If they went to Kentucky next weekend it would probably be attended by 15 people. That's why. Outside Indianapolis and Gateway, not enough people show up for the both track and the series to...

Re: Origin of "Silver Crown"

My behavior? I'm not the one filling my diaper or sending vitriolic IM's because someone set me straight with a sourced fact. That's OK, keep being you, and I'll keep being me, a person who's not...

Re: Origin of "Silver Crown"

No, what's sad is pointing out those very facts on here before only to be called a Penske shill or a angry former CART employee, something I've dealt with plenty of times before. It's not my fault...

Re: Origin of "Silver Crown"

Gurney's White Paper was penned in early 1978 and had nothing to do with dirt versus asphalt and everything to do with the financial potential of the series. But, yeah, I know, the truth always gets...

Re: Origin of "Silver Crown"

Explain to us all how a document meant to rally other owners into coming together to push for greater financial success of the series was a catalyst for a decision made almost a decade prior to...

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

You cared enough to post.....

But, yea, if a person has a problem with foreign talent competing in this series, then they are exactly that....a xenophobe.

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

A strong series could have weathered those events much better. Splitting the series, running off fans, strong teams, and proven top level talent....pretty much the equivalent of not boarding up your...

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

When I get accused of being a former or current member of the CART/Penske payroll it's always a good indicator of that individual not having legs to stand on so they resort to straw man arguments.

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

Because Racin Gardner and Dr. Jack Teeth Miller were names fans could get behind.....the point is those types are going to exist regardless of who's running the show.

But back to grass roots, if...

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

Exactly what I meant, it was a pyrrhic victory. While I don't hold either side totally blameless, that whole deal set off a chain of events that the series has not recovered from. We'll never know...

Re: IMS Sold to Penske

Apparently a few of you missed the press conference and are still beating the Penske hates dirt racing dead horse.

-Tony George for the first time since the split fully admitted that the family...

Re: F1 - Halo to the Rescue (Spoiler)

Mike Devin was the one who pointed that out in Beast, you're not going to like this, but he also went on to say that the only one's he ever heard be outwardly negative to foreigners, contrary to what...

Re: F1 - Halo to the Rescue (Spoiler)

"Penske and his ilk" were not behind the formula change that happened during that time. Roger Ward was the one who convinced Cooper and Brabham to test the European style rear engine car at Indy. It...

Re: F1 - Halo to the Rescue (Spoiler)

Blaming Penske, like some of you do, is laughable at best. His team had only ran 12 races up to the end of the 1970 season and wouldn't be full time until around 1972. I would love to hear how he...

Yep, and kept Charles Leclerc from being hit from a piece of Alonso's car last year at Spa.

Re: F1 - Halo to the Rescue (Spoiler)

The danger is never going to go away, but if the formula allows an advancement in an area that will further protect a driver, I'm all for it.

I was at the Burg last nigh and Eldora last week,...
