A Big Old Half Mile Reopening
Just saw where the big 1/2 mile is coming back in West Virgnia, Pennsboro Speedway.
Would be great to see the growing USAC Silver Crown series race there someday. https://www.wboy.com/news/ritchie/pe...ign=socialflow |

Would be cool to see the champ cars at West Virginia Motor Speedway as well. I have never been there but the place looks incredible.

Re: A Big Old Half Mile Reopening
Champ cars would probably work on WVMS and Pennsborro. But WVMS had huge fans support when it reopened but car counts quickly dwindled despite high purses.

Re: A Big Old Half Mile Reopening
Lucas Oil late models ran there last year and only pulled 20 cars. Lowest car count of the season. Had it not rained out the feature, they would have been lucky to have 10 cars finish.

I’ve not been to a race there but have been past it many times. You can see it from rt 50 & I stopped once to see it.
While it may indeed be a 1/2 mile don’t think about other tracks you’ve been too. To call it unique is an understatement. It’s an odd shape & I believe there may be a bridge or 2 in the track. I wish them well & plan to go to the sprint races |

I also remember reading on social media that when asked about his best/worst tracks that Johnny Gibson would always rank this as his worst track. When you watched the Lost Speedway series you could see why. As you said, anyone spending money on a new track deserves our support, but this one is facing long odds. |

Re: A Big Old Half Mile Reopening
Looks like they are putting some money into it and reducing it to a 1/4 mile.
https://outsidegroove.com/2023/08/pe...-shorter-oval/ Scratch that they are keeping the 1/2 just came out while I was posting the previous info. https://outsidegroove.com/2024/01/pe...original-size/ |

Once they get it going they'll have a few big events a year and whatever else it takes to keep the track ran in and on people's radar. |
