Usac dirt drivers/seymour police

USAC Drivers, Zeb Wise, Tyler Courtney and Kevin Thomas, Jr will be racing fully equipped Seymour Police cars on Tuesday August 13th in Seymour.

Driven 2 Save Lives/Indiana Donor Network/Seymour Police Department/Indiana ******** Justice Institute/Seymour Community Schools are hosting an event at the Seymour Freeman Field Airport on August 13th 11am-1pm.

Sprint Car and Midget drivers, Zeb Wise, Tyler Courtney, Kevin Thomas, Jr often have the chance to compete against each other on dirt tracks throughout the country but on Tuesday they will help the above organizations bring awareness to organ donation, seat belts, distracting driving, and school bus stop arms. These drivers will be driving Seymour Police Department Police cars through a driving course for time and will be competing with each other, with the quick time receiving a trophy and bragging rights while bringing awareness to the above important causes.

Indiana organ donor recipient, Lance Lewis, will be at this event as he received Indianapolis Police Officer David Moore's lungs after Officer Moore was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2011.

There will be educational information from the Indiana donor network about how you may become a donor. The Seymour Police will have information about seat belts, distracting driving (cellular phones) and school bus stop arm violations.

Those attending will have access to several food trucks for their lunch, and will have multiple chances to win Brickyard 400 tickets!! Brickyard tickets will be given away every 15 minutes during this event.

A big thank you to drivers Zeb Wise, Tyler Courtney, and Kevin Thomas, Jr for participating in this event. Any questions may be directed to clamb@seymourpd.com

Re: Usac dirt drivers/seymour police

All three drivers Zeb Wise, Tyler Courtney, and Kevin Thomas, Jr participated in the Driven2SaveLives/Seymour Police Department's 2nd annual "Hot Pursuit road course challenge" Drivers drove a mile long road course making right and left turns, and driving on blacktop, dirt, and gravel. All drivers were allowed practice time, and then they drove three different police vehicles through the course with their average time determining their time compared against the other drivers. If a driver hit a cone and knocked it over, there was a three second penalty added to their time. This race was held at the Seymour Freeman Field Airport. The results were:

Finishing 3rd was Kevin Thomas, Jr with an average time of 1:39.47, 2nd was Tyler Courtney 1:38.80 and quick time was ZEB WISE 1:37.76
Zeb received a large trophy and bragging rights for his win!

All drivers had a great competitive time, and are looking forward to next years event!! The Seymour Police Department hosted this event along with the Indiana Donor Network, and the Indiana ******** Justice Institute (ICJI). Thanks to WTHR 13 Indianapolis for covering this event. Information about organ donation and seat belt awareness and distracted driving and school bus stop arm violations was provided throughout the event. New organ donors were registered during our event, as well!
