Bloomington eats? sits?

Heading to Bloomington for the first time on Friday for the Burton Memorial. Any advice on where to grab a bite to eat before the race? Sit-down place but not fancy. A pizza, bbq, or burger place would work fine. I try to avoid national chains - would rather taste the local fare.

Then any tips on seating? Is it standard wooden bleachers or something else? Is a pit pass worth while? Any bleachers there or just watch-thru-the-fence?

Finally, what time should I leave the Speedway if I want to stop and eat and still catch the begining of hot laps?

Any/all advice is greatly appreciated in advance. :32:

I would recommend Gray Brothers cafeteria in Mooresville for a place to stop to eat. Take SR 67 south off of I-465 to Mooresville. The cafeteria will be on your right. Then continue south on SR 67 to SR 39 East to Martinsville, then SR 37 south to Bloomington. Take the first Bloomington exit you come to (Walnut Street) and stay on Walnut Street all the way south through town. After passing a Kroger on your left, turn left at the next light. The speedway is about quarter mile on your left.

The seating is wooden bleachers. The new bleachers outside turn 4 are pretty nice. There are bleachers in the pits also.

I would allow at least 2.5 hours, maybe 3 hours with the stop to eat.

Enjoy the races.

The seatings built on a hillside and there are plenty of wooden bleachers. however Some bring blankets or chairs an set on the hill. Track foods good and get the ice cream too.
