usac sprintcar owner Laurie Sertich hit by push tr

Sprint Car owner Laurie Sertich was ht by a push truck at Canyon Speedway in Peoria, AZ on Thursday, February 28th during a practice session. She remains in the intensive care unit at a local hospital. She suffered multiple broken bones along with cuts and contusions.

According to witnesses, the push truck didn't have any lights on and Laurie didn't see the truck.

The track also did not have an ambulance on site or paramedics/EMTs. USAC requires a DOT ambulance on race days, but since this was a track's practice session, it wasn't an official USAC night. Her race team members controlled her bleeding until a life flight helicopter arrived.

Praying for a speedy recovery!!

Terrible. Prayers are on the way. Sorry, should be an ambulance present whenever cars are taking the track. Was there any insurance in place?

My thoughts and prayers are with Laurie and her family.

And anyone who drove a car faster than engine heat speed should have his/her head examined.

Sad day hope Laurie makes it ok. As far as no ambulance on the grounds, not to smart on the tracks side but if the drivers would stick together and not get in there cars until one was on site this would not happen. My way of looking at the deal is no Ambulance no driver in the #66j Josh means too much to us to take a chance like that.

Again thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.

Hopefully, she recovers fully and quickly.

Ambulance, you mean like a real ambulance, that the state says is an an ambulance, staffed by paramedics, like real paramedics that can treat you appropriately in an emergency. Ha! Not at a Michigan sprint car race anyways.
