Macon Speedway Freedom Fest
Millstadt, IL – The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series are set to make their fourth and fifth appearance at the “Mighty” Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois on July 3rd and July 4th for the Macon Speedway Freedom Fest. The last POWRi appearance at Macon Speedway was on June 6th for the third night of Illinois SPEED Week, with Christopher Bell and Matt Howard taking division wins.
POWRi and Macon Speedway officials are assuring drivers, teams, and fans that the track prep concerns and complaints from the June 6th event have been heard and are taken into consideration. Therefore, only three classes total will be run at Macon Speedway for the Freedom Fest. Friday, July 3rd will host POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets, POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros, and Street Stocks, with fireworks on display after the feature events. Saturday, July 4th will include a band before the races in the afternoon, with POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets, POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micros, and UMP Modifieds taking the center state in the evening. Each night will be run as a completely separate show, with no cars locking into Saturday night’s show. Friday night will be regular payout for both midgets and micros, with Saturday’s midget feature paying $3000 to WIN.

Hopefully the same will apply for the 2016 POWRi Speedweek. If not, then I ain't going. This years event was a hostage situation.

I thought Saturday's show was suppose to pay 5g's at least that's what they were advertising during speed week

No one loves watching top flight midget racing at Mighty Macon more than I do but we will not attend another midget show at Macon with more than 2 support classes.

A car load of us will be making the trip to Macon for both shows the 3rd & 4th of July due to the change of heart regarding too many support classes.

Thanks Macon!!
