That was a real good race. 17 cars under the track record. The heats were all good. The A was a real good battle, with a real good end. First finished third. Third finished first, and second lead for a while. That was the last 2 laps.

On line video looks like they had a good crowd. Did they?? Or was the video misleading?

I'm not a Montpelier regular but it looked like a very good crowd to me. One photographer that visits the track all the time said it was the best cushion he'd ever seen there. Great racing and smooth and quick running show as well. Thumbs up! :6:

Thought they had an excellent crowd for a Friday night in late Sept. Track was excellent, they moved the program along very fast, and the racing was awesome. The intensity of the last two laps of the feature was unreal. For $20, this was a bargain race night! :22:

I did not see Kyle Cummins in any of the updates last night. Anybody know the story? Engine broke? Will he be at the burg tonight? I have not been on the forum in a while. I may have missed something. Any updates would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I will second that. This was my first visit to Montpelier and I think it is an excellent facility and they had a well prepared track. I will definitely return for their next sprint car show.

Glad they had a great show for you guys. Told ya it was a neat place and the track was great at the BOSS show. Race Monitor showed Green on the feature just after 9pm. Went a little long with the cautions and reds but sounds like with three cars under a blanket going into three of the last lap. You got your $$$ worth.

Congrats to Leary and to Montpiller

Burg for USAC and Fremont for BOSS tonight. you can't go wrong either way.

Dirtfan 9/30/17 9:44 AM

I believe Kyle has other commitments this weekend.

Def one of the best prepared tracks for a sprint car show. It looked like darland and windom were the class of the field early. Shane cottle and kt came from no where to mix it up. The last 3 laps was intense. Leary was in 3rd entering turn 1 on the last lap and won it. Really good stuff. If you werent there you missed a great race!

I'm thinking the track was better last night than it was for the BOSS show. Told my wife it mightve been the best race this summer. Her response, Bob you say that every week. Can't wait for the Burg tonight.

Glad they had a great show that place has come along way since the first time we raced there in 99. In all the years since we've never had bad experience there.!

With the success of last nights show, hopefully this same doubleheader will be scheduled in 2018.

Montpelier Friday night
Lawrenceburg Saturday night

Would be a great fall fest type event for Mont. Maybe they could add some fun events prior to the race. :)

I like a fall date for USAC at Montpelier much better than a spring date. Weather tends to be much more cooperative.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. We appreciate everyone attending the race at MMS and to USAC for offering us this opportunity as a rain date.

About 4 weeks ago, we completely changed how we were prepping the track particularly with the mid week stuff. We got it close for the BOSS race and thankfully nailed it this week.

What a race! Congratulations to CJ and the Leary family.

Went to Montpelier for the 1st time when they had a GLOSS show. Boston Reid, The Maniac & more. Thought it was a cool little track. Any historians kinda remember that cause I don't remember the year.

I think that was around 2002. They actually ran the GLOSS series twice. The first time the lights went out right before the features. They came back and ran the makeup, then a full program and 2nd feature. Kraig Kinser won both. I might be thinking of another show, but I am pretty sure Reid was leading the make up and spun, kept it going, but Kinser got by and was never really challenged the rest of the night. They had some excellent shows at Gas City, Montpelier, and Kokomo. Kinser, Reid, Brandon Wimmer, Paul May, Chad Blonde, Ken Mackey, Todd Kelley, just to name a few.
