DuQuoin Question

So they run jalopies on Saturday and the Crown Cars on Sunday. My question is does all the laps by the stock cars affect the track for the race cars? I’ve never been there but have it on good authority that it’s the better surface of the two Illinois miles, primarily because it is run in the evening. Is this the normal schedule? If so then my concern is a mute point.

Typically ARCA ran Monday, so this year is different. That said, I trust Sargent will have the track whipped into shape for the crown race Sunday.

IMO DuQuoin is usually racier than Springfield.

Tip of the hat to team Sargent for taking on the big tracks. However flipping a mile track, in my mind is no small endeavor. I hope it works out for a great race and a success for all

Weather plays into a ton of it. Cool cloudy day and you'll get heavy, tacky longer. sun and heat. probably have rubber in hot laps

Leaving Evansville shortly to attend my 55th consecutive Ted Horn Memorial at the beautiful DuQuoin fairgrounds! Hope there is a large crowd on hand to support this event!

Is this typical for races here? Sure are dragging things out

Not meaning to send this thread off on a tangent, but I wonder if you would be willing to walk up to one of the ARCA team owners, and tell them they are fielding a "jalopy"? It's Ok to have a preference of the two races, but why rain on someone else's parade?

The track was awesome. Cars were running the cushion all 100 miles. Another great race at DuQuoin last night and hats off to Track Enterprises and Jacob Wilson! Btw ARCA are not jalopies and any event on these mile dirt tracks should be well attended if you expect racing to continue.

No they are not but, judging by the size of the field, they appear to be an endangered species. The Silver Crown race was very enjoyable!
