Heard this earlier and didn't wanna post it. Tony is a hometown hero I grew up around him watching him race and at the kart track at Akron and another man on the plane was a teacher of mine and varsity football coach.

I'm at a loss for words right now.

I am shocked and saddened by the loss of his great personality. Very hard to believe. Tons of great memories flash through my mind.

He won the first two Rumble In Fort Wayne events when they were 100 lap features. He won the Rumble In The RCA Dome sprint car feature.

Condolences to Cindy and all of his family, and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with Tony's family, friends and the entire racing community tonight!! I have known Tony since I can remember, and grew up watching him race as to everyone else. This is so heartbreaking!! He will be missed by so many, but never forgotten!

Hate to hear it. Didn't know him well....but spoke to him often. Spotted for him a time or two when he drove the Ricky Nix champ car. It's always sad to lose a big personality like his.

I only met him once but feel like I lost an old friend,RIP Tony you will be missed by many!

This is a devastating loss to the sport that we all love. Not only was Tony a great, great driver, that was almost unbeatable at times. He also had an amazing persona. He had a star quality about him. Just about every time you saw this guy, you saw that big smile of his. You could tell, he really liked being just exactly who he was and always drew a crowd where ever you saw him. And he handled that part of being a star, with class and gratitude on a similar level as Chuck Amati. And if you know me very well, a One Armed Bandit comparison is about as much praise as I can give to someone. RIP, Tony Elliott.

I saw him race and win many times. Most memorable is the Ted Horn he won at DuQuoin. It was the only time my dad and I went to DuQuoin together. I hope he's shaking Tony's hand right now.

May God Speed 'Tony Elliott'..Thouhgts and Prayers to Tony's Loved ones and all the other Familys!!..you always brought smiles to others when you crossed their paths with Your Big contagious SMILE!!..that had to be one of your secrets to keeping you still so young looking!!..You always seemed to have time to talk to your Fans!!..so we enjoyed when you came up into the stands (PIR, Perris) to watch the events, and talking about who's who in what Car!!...thanks for those times!!...

It is difficult to find words during these difficult times. Tony was not only one of the foremost ambassadors for our sport but more importantly a great man and friend. The Little 500 will not be the same without him in a seat. I know he is now in a better place and will look down on us with his smile and wisdom.

I had the pleasure of crewing for Tony while he was driving Ricky Nix's Silver Crown Car. Great guy and very pleasant to work with.
