Did you See..

Did you see what Lawrenceburg is charging their fans to get into the track this season? For a 3 class show(Sprints, Mods, purestocks) they are charging $15 for adults and $7.00 for kids 7-12...It doesn't appear any of this money is going to the drivers as the purse structure looks to be very similar to 2007 so why the $3.00 per person hike in Gate admission??? So if myself and my 2 sons come over, i'm looking at $29 before I even walk in the gate...OUCH!!

I'm not a weekly supporter of L'burg, but in the past I have been there as many as 12 times a year, that did not happen in 07 because of the kids prices, and it will definately not happen in 08 with the new adult prices at the Burg.

In a day and time when folks are having to scrape up money to do anything extra, L'burg does this to it's fans. If they are charging $15 for regular shows, I can't imagine how much they will charge for their WOO, Sprint Week and Lucas races...I know someone will get on here and say if you can't afford it, don't go, well I can afford it, but that's not the point, if enough of the folks that can't afford it don't go, before long there won't be a L'burg Speedway to not go to...

Dave are you guys giving away alot of free adult tickets and having raffles and giveaways for adults now too, because you did all that for kids was your reasoning for overcharging for them...

the dirty one!!!

Whenever somebody moans about the present cost of something, I always go to the online inflation calculator http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm

to compare today's real dollar value from the past.

In 1970 the going admission to a racetrack was around $3-$4. Using an average of $3.50 in the calculator, the present day admission should be $19.54. Be happy it is now only $15.

Ticket prices are doing much better than gas at the moment, but not as good as milk.

Personally, I get more than 2-1/2 times better gas mileage than I did in 1970 and drink about the same amount of milk. So, it looks like we're ahead of the game.

Well I guess you haven't noticed the entire overhaul at the Burg, you must not take advantage of all the great pics that have been posted of the construction progress. In my opinion this is going to be a Class A facility when finished and you can't ***** about that. Out here in Cali I pay $13-$15 for all local shows at tracks that haven't had updates to them in 10 plus years on top of that they are all wanger shows so poor you, you get a steal at $15 a show at a top notch facility and top notch traditional sprint racing. So I will be the first to say if you don't like it don't go.Whiner:crying:

Well I guess you don't realize that the folks running the Burg didn't pay for this overhaul, it was paid for by the City/County with money from the Casino as it is a Fairgrounds, so there's no reason for the fans to pay for it either. Don't worry, I won't be going, and when alot of fans don't go, and the place closes because of it, then it'll be an empty firstclass facility...

And Al, your online inflation calculater, does it factor in what the tracks in the area are charging and the fact that L'burg is pricing themselves out of business????

the dirty one!!!

It's still a whole lot cheaper than going to a pro sports event. You can't hardly sit in the cheap seats of a Cards or Cubs game for that much. If you want real sticker shock, check out what it costs to go to an NFL game. I only get to go to around 6 to 8 races a year, so a few bucks extra for a ticket is not going to bug me too much. The closest tracks however are over an hour away, so the gas prices are what catches my attention. :icon_smile_blackeye But I'm still going!:thumb

Also in California some of the places/track charge for parking.

1) I guess if thier is something you want to see, you will pay for it.

a) But I got a "running throug a redlight" ticket from
one of those camera traffic tickets a few weeks ago.

It will cost me 500 dollars.

b) I don't think I ran it, more like a "hollywood stop",
late at night.

2) So you can complain all you want for good reason, but
hopefully there is something you want to see, to pay
the 15.00 dollars.

a) For me they pay you to park and 40.00 pit pass just
to help somebody out.

Sincerely,

Larry Otani:applaud:

It's a great facility with great racing. If you figure you get 4 or 5 hours of entertainment, that is only approximately $7.50 per hour for entertainment for four people. If you eat and drink there (except for beer) that's your fault because you can bring it in with you much cheaper. Doesn't seem that bad to me for what you get. Sure, I would love for it to be cheaper, but I would also like for a lot of other things to be cheaper too.

Life's too short. Go and enjoy the races. You can always make up the difference in price with your economic stimulus check from the government.:D:angry-smiley-007:
