Smackdown takeaways

Starting a thread to get opinions on this edition of this wonderful event. I was not able attend this year but certainly paid attention. I have input on this but what troubles me is no posts from my buddy Mr Funk. What’s up with that?

Another observation. Hats off to Kokomo, the Stanbrough’s and everyone who contributed in anyway to raising 40k for I believe Reilly’s Hospital. Well done!

Well run program, track in great shape, huge car count, fantastic close racing, large crowd, was a great racing evening. King of the Hill is a very interesting concept, that I feel other promoters/tracks should incorporate in their weekly programs. You could even expand on it, go to double elimination, etc. I noticed, the fans were on the edge of their seats, and cheering louder for this, than probably any other race of the eve. Smack down is now on my must see yearly race list. I will however bring a sweatshirt next year.

Probably like a few dozen others I know, Switched from participating to just reading IOW. Due to all the "We can't have a conversation, we gotta try to tear each other down post"

You would sure have to question an entity that would ban someone who promotes the sport like Brent. Glad to hear that it may be of his own accord. But just doesn’t seem like a Kokomo race without his input.

For me: The best Multi-night sprint car event in the country.

flagboy55 8/25/19 10:17 PM

Purple, I can’t say you’re wrong. I wish I could be at every race. I’m at a point where I’ve got to pick and choose. Trying to knock some things off the old bucket list before I kick it. I love Smackdown but this year I chose the BC39 instead. I just can’t go to them all. I can’t applaud USAC and Kokomo enough for putting this event together. I’ve been to a lot of them and it’s great. I don’t like the King of the Hill thing, but maybe that’s justme. Actually I know it’s not just me but that’s a topic for another day. Lastly I want to thank Mother Nature for giving the O Connors, USAC and the fans some beautiful weather.

So I read all the time complaints about support classes. If that is an issue for anyone then this is the event for you. Nothing but sprint cars for four days. I got 4 straight days of sprint cars and lots of them. Just an awesome 4 days of racing.

Did I hear correctly the winner share sat night was 11K??.......Would like to see that 12K next year or higher...Maybe Friday night could be 35 lapper and pay 7500 or 8k to win??....Like to see the event tweaked a little for 2020

I thought it was one of the best if not the best yet. Weather cooperated, car counts were good and racing was over the top. Really competitive all days. I especially like the fact it was only sprint cars all 4 days.
