This is refreshing to see, and even though it may have been an organized effort by IndyCar, it isn't really an isolated incident; Doug Bowles is an avowed short track fan, and several IndyCar drivers, most notably Scott Dixon, have been known to frequent Kokomo on Sunday nights when they have a chance. Just because someone comes from another country doesn't mean they're "out of touch" with dirt track racing; Dixie's parents were both dirt track racers and there's a bullring (Hi-Tec Oils Speedway) in Will Power's hometown of Towoomba, Queensland. Even the guy who started the Rear-Engine Revolution at Indy, one Black Jack Brabham, got his start wheeling a midget.

I would say it's not that uncommon, back in the day, around Indy 500 time, it wasn't unusual to see quite a few Indy drivers looking at the go-kart races at Columbus, In fairgrounds track, Big Al Unser, Lloyd Ruby, Bill Puterbaugh, of course the whole Puterbaugh family was there with Billy, in fact, Al could be seen on pretty regular occasions at the TQ races when he was in town, I've seen a lot of them "cruising" the pits or in the stands, they are human, most of them, and racing is their game, so it's not a surprise, just give them their space, they are there for the same things you are.
