Dobmeier Wins and Follows with Top 5’s!!

7/6/2009

The weekend of the fourth always brings much excitement to the sport of auto racing and it certainly did for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports as the weekend was suppose to begin with a very anticipated race against the World of Outlaw boys’ at Huset’s Speedway on the 3rd. As the long trek to Huset’s unfolded, the skies became darker and darker at the “Home of the Professionals” in which evolved into a cancellation. This forced Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports back up to Grand Forks for the attempt of the Mid-Season Championships at River Cities Speedway.

They made it just in time for the start of the make-up main event from the June 12th rain shortened event. Starting on the outside of row number four and with only 10 laps “Dynamite” Dobmeier was able to take the lead to begin a very promising weekend. At only 6 laps to go, an unfortunate lap car slid up in front of the Senske & Son Delta Oil machine damaging the front end of the #13 resulting in the first DNF for Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports at River Cities in 2009.

The crew went to work on the car and was able to get it repaired and ready to rock for the start of the heat race for the Mid-Season Championships. The heats were lined up off of point average which gave the Senske & Son Delta Oil #13 the pole position start to begin the event. Conquering the heat race gave Mark the front row starting position in the main event and once the green flag dropped, he didn’t look back to take his fourth main event win at the speedway for 2009.

Following the win at River Cities, Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports headed to Knoxville Raceway. Dobmeier qualified 13th with a time of 15.221 to start out the night which was then followed by a front row starting spot in the heat race. Winning the heat set Mark on row number 5 for the start of the main event. He charged through the field finished 4th giving him a very respectable points night to put the Senske & Son Delta Oil machine 6th in the standings.

After Knoxville, it was time to head back north but with a stop at Huset’s Speedway for their Sunday night weekly show. Rain came through once again early in the evening which delayed the night and created a very wet and heavy racetrack for the racers’. Due to the rain delay, the speedway decided to line up the starting positions for the heats based off the pill draw and not qualifying for the attempt to shorten up the program. Dobmeier, drawing the highest pill in the bucket, started at the tail of the field. He drove the Senske & Son Delta Oil #13 up to seventh, which was very impressive given the track conditions.

Starting 12th in the main event, Dobmeier put the hammer down and was able to advance himself all the way up to second right behind Terry McCarl. “A track like this is always very interesting,” says Mark, “You have to be fast and not lose momentum, but on the same side you really have to finesse the car to keep it off the huge curb and out of trouble. We are very happy with the second place finish; It was a good points weekend over all!”

Next up for the Lunstra/Dobmeier #13 will be the normal Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of racing at River Cities in Grand Forks followed by Knoxville and then Huset’s.
