IMRA TITLE TO MALLONEE, GEHRKE TAKES CANTON FINALE

Canton, IL……..Chett Gehrke won the nettle but Jeff Mallonee won the war Saturday night as the USAC IMRA Midget Series concluded at Spoon River Speedway. Mallonee, of Davenport, Iowa, emerged as the series champion, while Gehrke, of Broken Arrow, Okla., won Saturday night’s 30-lap main event in his Matteson Racing Spike/Fontana. Gehrke passed Dillon Morley on lap 19 and led the rest of the way to beat Gedd Ross, Brent Burrows, Dillon Morley and Shane Morgan. Mallonee finished 22nd Saturday but outpointed Morley for the championship by 171 points.
