I had many beers with him bench racing when he lived in Phoenix for a while. The legend in his own mind comment is funny and part of his legend and nature.

Duke contacted me regarding a post on this site when I misidentified the winner of my very first sprint car race. It was at Winchester ,Labor Day, 1945. He corrected my memory by posting a photo of Duke, an almost 2 year old , being held by,I presume his father, at the race. Not only my first race but probably his also. |
