Labor day 200 to kick off new tradition saturday night

LABOR DAY 200 TO KICK OFF NEW TRADITION SATURDAY NIGHT

Anderson, IN – August 26, 2014 – The inaugural “Labor Day 200” is set to kick off this Saturday night at Anderson Speedway. The new event will feature the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series (MSRXSS) competing in the longest winged sprint car event of the year, anywhere, in the entire country.

The event will give fans 200 laps of racing action. The field will be split into twin 25 lap qualifiers that will determine the starting line-up for the 150-lap $4,000 to win shootout. There will be a ten minute break at the 75-lap mark to give teams a chance to refuel.

Early entries for this event include two former Little 500 champions: Jeff Bloom and Jacob Wilson. Other drivers expected to compete include newly crowned MSRXSS champion Brian Gerster, Jimmy McCune, Aaron Pierce, Ryan Gillenwater, Troy DeCaire, Kevin Blue, Jerry Caryer and, Jim Sheets among others.

There will be a purse of over $20,000 on the line for this historic event with the winner guaranteed $4,000 and $600 to start. Outside of the Little 500, this will be the biggest purse Must See Racing teams have competed for all season long.
Long distance sprint car races at Anderson Speedway have been the norm for several years. But, this will mark the longest distance winged sprint cars have competed in Anderson Speedway as well as MUST See Racing to date. This will also be only the second time in the modern era of sprint car racing a long distance wing event of this nature has taken place. A 200 lap event at Salt Lake City, Utah took place last September. But that event was broken up into four 50-lap segments.

Re: Labor day 200 to kick off new tradition saturday night

:23: I will take this one in. I for one, still long for sprint cars on pavement. Some of the fondest memories I have of my 65 years attending sprint car races are the ones forged on pavement. And, seeing as how the MSCS decided to run up against a dirt race in DuQuoin on Sunday, this one is no contest. I see these guys every year at Salem, and that should be one this year with the repaving job down there. Anyhow, with a 200 lapper, and two midget races, and it being just a tad further than Haubstadt for me (110 miles), I plan on taking in Anderson. Some of the others are wondering LPS or Brownstown. My gain. See you at Anderson Tom.:)
