Little 400 supasses 40 entries

The 70th annual Payless Little 500 has increased to 41 entries. With entries expected from Jacob Wilson, Kenny Schrader, Ryan Litt, Caleb Armstrong, Shane Butler and more.... we should surpass 45+ cars. Friday Bump Day will be interesting for sure. This year could be one of the strongest fields on record.

Notes of interest;

* Eric Gordon (9 time winner) is back after taking 4 years off in the Hoffman #69
* Troy DeCaire is back (after taking 2 years off) in the Larry Puglio #91 with a brand new Beast/Gaerte 410
* Goacher Racing (15' winner w/ Chris Windom) has expanded to 2 car team, adding rookie Kevin Thomas jr
* 8 former winners entered; Kyle Hamilton, Kody Swanson, Chris Windom, Jacob Wilson, Brian Tyler, Eric Gordon, Shane Cottle, Jeff Bloom
* 9 rookies entered (possibility of a few more); Kevin Thomas Jr (AL), Dameron Taylor (IN), Anthony McCune (OH), Johnny Gilbertson (FL), John Inman (FL), Carlie Yent (FL), Joey Schmidt (MS), Kyle O'Gara (IN), Izak Spies (South Africa)
* Florida is back stronger than ever with 8 entries.... rebounding from an average of 4 the past few years
* Due for a win; Aaron Pierce (468 laps), Caleb Armstrong (398) and Bobby Santos (325) have led the most laps without winning
* 3 time winner Jeff Bloom attempting his 41st start, wins came in 1972, 1977 and 1991
* Rookie Anthony McCune attempting to be 3rd generation to race in the Little 500, following Jimmy McCune (2002 - present) and Jim McCune (1961-1964)
* Former rookies of the year entered; Davey Hamilton Jr (15'), Jerry Coons Jr (14'), Garrett Green (13'), Billy Wease (12'), Jeff Bloom (72')
* Drivers entered from 11 states, Canada and South Africa
* Anderson Speedway expecting so many cars, they added a non-qualifiers 40 lap feature on Friday night

Wow.....just making the race this year is going to be challenging. Can't wait.

Hasn't Eric Gordon won the Pay Less Little 500 nine times?

How are ticket sales? Much stuff left?

hoosierboy3 5/11/18 2:52 AM

Call Anderson Speedway any week day before 4 pm I believe. I called a few weeks ago and was able to get 7 tickets in the section I wanted, no problem. Could be a different story as we are only a few weeks away now. I remember, last year we were still able to get tickets the week of practice while we were there but it was very limited.

Re: Little 400 supasses 40 entries

My bad, changed Eric Gordon to 9 time winner.

Kenny Schrader and the #99 Armstrong team announced they were running the Little 500 for the 2nd year in a row. Have not heard if Caleb Armstrong is running but assume he is.... he has been very close to winning the past 2 years.

I hear there are another 5 to 10 potential entries coming in.
