BOSS at Lawrenceburg 5/18

This Saturday, the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series will make its only 2019 stop at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Matt Westfall won the tour opener on April 13th at Atomic Speedway. Since then, rain has taken the next 3 scheduled events. So race teams are anxious to return to action for this $1,500 to win / $250 to start event.

Pit gates will open at 4 with general admission gates at 5 pm. Hot laps / qualifying will begin promptly at 6 with racing action at 7. Adult general admission is $17 while kids 7-12 are $7 and children 6 and under are free. Pit passes will be $30 for all ages.

Race teams are reminded that mufflers ARE REQUIRED for this event. The tire rule remains open for our burnoff period. Lawrenceburg Speedway graciously provides free transponders for race teams. Payout for this event will be done by BOSS after the event at the registration tent.

Special thanks to our sponsors who provide heat race money, bonus award money and point fund money. Please support and thank the following:

Come on down, If your less than two hours away, you should easily see the sprint and mod features and get home in plenty of time for USAC features on Flo.

Yay for Raceday. had a rough couple of days but finally feeling up to going to only my second race of the year. :)

Going to be awesome racing at The Burg!. If I can keep going in the right direction, I plan on making up and go to a few more in the next two weeks.

The last month has taught me, Life is precious, enjoy it while your here. And be thankful for it.

Dust bowl in the heats

openwheelfan1 5/18/19 8:43 PM

Not disagreeing that it is a dust bowl, as I’m not there, but hard to imagine that ANY dirt track in IN could be dusty with all the rain that has fallen over the last few weeks.

Gregg 5/18/19 9:26 PM

After 12 or so years my password inexplicably didn't work until now.

.

TSS not dry at all!

sprinter14 5/18/19 11:02 PM

Had nothing to do with “officiating” with T-Mez. I think he will be taking that post back when he comes off the track. His raceceiver apparently was not working or he failed to put it in for the B Main. He won it. We just made him put on a show in the process.

Gregg 5/18/19 11:12 PM

Nick Bilbee wins it then blows up.

Dust bowl? Never had trouble seeing anything and never wiped a bit of dust off me or my car and I was parked right off one.

got dusty a couple times, They knocked it down 85* and windy all day.

Anyway, I had a blast, absolute blast, The racing was good with the first B and late feature being the highlight reel. Tmez became don't p me off Mez in the B and won the thing from the tail. Then Bilbee by doing exactly what it takes to be good at the Burg moved around and did something different by running high in one and two and eventually running down and passing what looked like a sure win by Weir.

Was happy for Michael Fischesser for winning his hear going away.

Got to see many people and got a hug from the Packers of Mud, Seen and briefly chatted with JJ Hughes who was out making the kids happy. Dickie Gaines. Ilovedirttrackracing and others. Missed Gregg. and surely missed The Mayor Marv who was feeling a bit off today. Get better Marv, work a few breaks in here and there, We miss ya.

Was feeling good and laughing and smiling like I haven't in a long while, Uncle came and was great as always watching racing with him.

Track was smooth and there was lots of two and three car racing for position all night.

Only problem I had was it started late and ran late. But for that kinda show. It's worth it.

Little 500
WoO on Memorial day then.

Have a good safe weekend.

Sorry I missed you Charles. Glad you had a good time. I got there just after mods hotlaps. Saturday was the first day I could work on my yard to completion and with no rain. Saturday morning the back yard looked like an abandoned property.

Like Chuck said. Bilbee found something up high in T1-2 that no one else tried and stuck with. He made it work and it paid off.

Two red flags on the evening. With 1 lap in the books Moffatt spun, probably to avoid a slowing Dickie Gaines. Westfall got collected and both Joss and Matt ended up on their side. Then on lap 6 Dustin Ingle was upended by a tire barrier. Everyone was okay and no car was junked, at least to this untrained eye.

Kudos to Ty Tilton for a very good run to 4th. Not sure if he'd been to the 'burg before.

I've been able to keep the allergies in check. From the semis on I was sneezing like a crazy man, bothering the heck out of everyone within shouting distance. I realized the drugs I took wore off. Took more drugs but they diddn't take effect until I got home 20 minutes after the sprint feature. Up to that point I had a great time sitting with the Padfields, their friends and Todd & LeAnn Clemons and speaking a few minutes with Dave Foist.

He claimed the penalty to be too harsh and is up in the air on returning for another race. Idk how the rules work with the radios I’m just seeing what he’s put on Twitter and I know he doesn’t sugar coat things. Wish I would’ve been there to see him charge to the front though. Also to see Bilbee pass Weir for the win. Sounds like a good night

Re: BOSS at Lawrenceburg 5/18

I believe his Transponder didn't work in qualifying either which put him in the rear of the heat and therefore didn't crack the top four for a transfer.. IDK how this works on the lineup of the consi but if that also goes by times. it puts him at the rear as he didn't have one.

I was talking to my Uncle before the race and said that if someone goes up top for about five laps and dust of their own groove that they'd be the fastest car on the track. Well the top of one and two dusted off just from possition racing thru the field. About lap 14 Billbee went p and found it, was clearly gaining about five car lengths down there and then losing it all again in three and four. Weir had about a straight away lead when this all started. About lap 17 Bilbee also started coming off lower in three and four, from there on out, he ran him down, drove around Weir in two on lap 21 and never looked back.

IM stlll smiling, had a amazin night, of others seen and briefly chatted with were Kimberly R. Melinda Murray, Big thanks to Aaron Fry for the short chat and well wishes while I was down for the count.

See ya at the tracks! :)

I'm glad someone spotted Rick, (AKA I LOVE DIRT TRACK RACING)as I havent seen any posts from him recently, about where him and the racing family were going. I didnt know but maybe he forgot to pay either his electric bill,or internet bill,or maybe both. Or if the power company and internet company had decided to just bypass the hamlet of Osgood,Indiana.

I figured the racing family would go to Lawrenceburg as its way closer than the USAC races in Illinois, and the racing family doesnt cross State lines to the West to go racing, although him and the Mail Man have always told me "Someday Quinn....Someday".....

Thanks......:D:D

The PENALTY was for being hard on the gas with push trucks still pushing no less than 6 times, despite about a dozen warnings over the radio that every single other driver obeyed. The cause of that infraction was the lack of a radio (or properly working one). Also, as Chuck pointed out, he got no qualifying time because they failed to even put their transponder ON the car for hot laps.

We spoke with T Mez at length after the show and he was not even mad. Heck, he’s planning to run my FAST winged event this weekend at I-96 in Michigan.

flatout18 5/19/19 2:20 PM

AQ... rest assured, ilovedirttrackracing is alive and well. He did enjoy the great racing events at The Burg last night. I do think he is on leave of absence from IOW due to some technological difficulties with his cellular device. But, I can confirm that the world renowned ilovedirttrackracing is putting together his schedule of great racing events for this next week. He will be attending several. The word on the street is that, the cooler will be packed with plenty on reserve for the long weekend of racing events. I'm sure he would want you to know to have a great and safe Memorial Day weekend enjoying all of the great racing festivities. Thanks 🤣

Gotcha. Like I said, just relaying what I got from his Twitter posts. Which is still posted. Hopefully Mother Nature allows the WoO show for Memorial Day, I have some friends that will be first timers to a sprint car event. I like to take my “sprint car virgins” to the Burg simply because you can’t beat the facilities. Also, $15 for a sack of 6 cold beers on ice ain’t a bad deal either. On a side note - not sure if Landon Simon was in attendance last night, I know he was at Gas City and that car is definitely one of the sharpest looking rides this year. Beautifully done! 👍

No problem man, Landon WAS with us last night but something took him from the running in the main event.

And I agree, the Burg has the nicest facility in the Midwest to take first timers. We’ve taken many there for their first sprint experience.

Well I'm glad one of the "Racing Family" has checked in to let us know Rick wasnt missing the racing action, and that he's just missing the action here.Hopefully the weather will be nice for all the great racing events going on this week, and the cooler wont get totally depleted. Maybe I'll come to Terre Haute on Wednesday, just to watch him in action standing up and yelling "GO Ballou" so I can holler at him to sit down, this isnt a NASCAR race...Like I've had to do in the past.

What other great racing events are you guys going to? Surely back to the Burg so Mail Man can watch the wings......

Compared to most other events that you have to buy a ticket for, yes. Unless you bring your own in (if even permitted). Better than $10.75 a piece while watching the sorry Cincy Reds get pummeled.

Yeah I don't understand how it's a state law that you can't bring alcohol in at Lawrenceburg, but you can bring it in at the Indy 500 🤔
