WoO
pretty bummed out to not see Tri-State on the schedule.

Re: WoO
Is their schedule finalized? I’ve seen this before where they list many dates and TSS is not on there, but is eventually added when Tommy puts out the schedule. Yes I will be very bummed if we don’t get a date.
Well after reading the release, it does in fact look like TSS is left out. Looks like they are out west, when they are usually cruising through here. Maybe the last few years battling the rain in the Spring was a factor? |
I noticed they had a WoO LM show this year. Thought that was a good addition but not at the cost of missing out on the sprints.

Re: WoO
We all love Kokomo; but IMO, in terms of the racing only, if we could only get one of TSS or Kokomo I think TSS is the place for the World of Outlaws. The paperclip turns made it wide open for non-wing guys, low budget wing guys. etc that no track can match. Jacksonville & Kokomo's size and layout bridges the gap, but nothing like Tri-State does in allowing the guys to fight for wins.

Re: WoO
The TBA race on Oct 17 is the day after being at Lakeside,KS. Doubt they will haul to Indiana the next night.

Re: WoO
That TBA is on the back of a Kansas race; so while it is possible they could swing back to TSS that night I don't think it's incredibly likely.

Re: WoO
According to TSS, The Outlaws could not find a place in their schedule this year for them.

Re: WoO
i went to a WoO race at Tri-State a few years ago and watched tractors work the track more than sprint cars race. They had modifieds too. lose lose.

And while it's fine to say you don't enjoy the tractor show, but to point to it as a reason to not attend to me is absurd because otherwise they run a tight organized show and still get the races over at a decent hour. Speaking more generally now, I've been to many track run more classes on a big night on a worse track surface and still take a half hour break with the track just sitting their while it starts to get late. Now that's something to complain about. |
I’ll take the tractor show any day for the surface and the racing provided by Tri State. I’m still amazed every time I hear someone complaining about it. I’m glad to see a WOO Kokomo date but an October 24 date is dubious in my book. Definitely a crap shoot weather wise then. I hope it works

Re: WoO
my biggest take-away from Knoxville this year was they didn't touch the track after hot laps. all 4 nights the track did pretty much the same thing. it can be done. no support division either.
p.s. Nappanee has a wonderful steam tractor show in September. well worth a visit. |

Re: WoO
Chief How long do you think it takes Tommy and crew to rework the track 15 to 20 minutes? I"ve been to some tracks were it takes that long between heat races. Once again some people bit^h about hung with a new rope. :D

Re: WoO
Looks like Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 has been added to the schedule for Friday, August 7th & Saturday, August 8th. If it was on there when the schedule was posted I sure as hell missed it. Pevely is on the schedule now.

Re: WoO
Yes, Knoxville is a different race track.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL-dVvdqbGo p.s. I-55 has been on the schedule on that weekend for many many years. Iron Man 55 is a bad-ass race. They do a tractor show there too |
Re: WoO
Does anyone actually know what the size of Haubstadt is? It has always looked smaller than a 1/4 mile to me.
|
Pevely is one of the best tracks on the schedule and the Ironman is a great race.
The WoO usually has a spring race scheduled there that 2 out of 3 times will get rained out. They didn’t schedule the spring race this year. |

ThePurple73, Haubstadt is 1/4, just tight turns with long straightaways. If you wanna get technical, you gotta use Google Earth, like Johnny Gibson, WoO Announcer did. Springfield is actually bigger than a mile & Rolling Wheels is under a 5/8, along with Eldora & Volusia being a little under a 1/2, so the All-time Dirt Sprint Car Speed record rests with Sammy Swindell again, just like it did for many years from Syracuse, then Billy Pauch had it for awhile at the last WoO show at Syracuse in 1994.
|
Didn’t they outlaws run there again in 2010? I wish I could find some footage of it, all I can seem to dig up is an on board of Chad Kemenah, which is still pretty cool to see.

hoosierboy3, I watched the video again of Chad Kemenah & Jason Sides, just Hot Lapping. I'm 99.9% sure that's all it amounted to. WoO Sprint Cars last actual race on a Mile was a Springfield in 1998. Last actual race at Syracuse was 1994. Last Indy Mile race was the 1st U.S. Dirt Nationals in 1992, which I witnessed. Then that race moved to Terre Haute for another year or two.

Re: WoO
If you get Haubstadt up in Google map you can see the track at the school and the race track at the same time. School tracks are usually 400 meters or 440 yards or a quarter mile, usually have a football field in the middle. It looks like the race track with outer wall, would fit inside the running track at the school.
